Along North Ave. coming from SM/ Trinoma side, I am driving an SUV; Ford Everest model 2005, with me in the vehicle is my former officemate

I was on the second lane making a left turn on going to Mindanao Avenue. Upon reaching the intersection I signaled to turning left moving at around 5-10 kph. As I was making a left turn, a public utility jeep coming from the outer most lane suddenly swerved in coming from my right side and into my front, furthermore jeepney driver did it without signaling. I sounded my vehicle’s horn but the PUJ driver made a severe angle of left turn and cut me off from his left side, I brake and stopped but the jeepney driver continued to cut me off, there was nothing I can do to avoid the accident.

As a result the left rear metal bumper of the PUJ came in contact with my front right bumper and fender flare thus damaging my vehicle. I felt the impact and so I stopped my vehicle which is now located at the center of Mindanao and north avenue intersection, the jeepney driver slowed down for a while noticing what has had happened but then continued moving at a constant pace. Noticing that the driver of the PUJ won’t stop, I started to move the vehicle to catch up with him, I honked my horn and flash my lights continuously to give him notice, but the driver still didn’t stop. I dropped down my window and shout at him to stop but the ignored me. The jeepney driver was now trying to escape me. Exhausting all methods, I decided to get in front of him and try to sway him into slowing down by cornering him to the side of the road.

I successfully stopped driver and the vehicle at the side of Veteran’s hospital at Mindanao ave. I stepped out of the vehicle and approached the driver; I told him what has happened and what we are going to do about the situation. I initially wrote down the plate number TWC 843 and asked him to show me his driver’s license but only presented at that time a TVR, the driver mentioned to me that his licensed is expired and he only holds a TVR dated March 20, 2010. I copied pertinent information, and thus I was able to know that the drivers name is "Armando A. Del Rosario."

During our discussion the driver repeatedly begged that I forgive him for the accident, he told me that he has no money I simply ignored his reasons but then again and again he begged that I forgive him for the accident citing many reasons during our conversation. During our discussion the passengers of the PUJ stepped out and board other jeeps. The PUJ was now empty.

We continued talking and I told him that I want a traffic investigator to come and make a proper and documented investigation of the accident. I asked then my officemate to go the intersection of North Avenue and Mindanao Avenue to talk to the MMDA enforcer and request for a traffic investigator. We are around 50 meters from the intersection.

As we were waiting for the traffic investigator to arrive, he asked me if he could go and fetch his operator and then come back later, I told him that I need a traffic investigation and that we should wait for the traffic investigator to arrive before making any decisions.

A minute or more has passed and I noticed that the driver was restless. To my surprise he hurriedly and suddenly went up to his vehicle and started the jeep’s engine, the driver drove PUJ and squeezed it in front of my vehicle nearly hitting my vehicle again. The jeepney driver was again trying to escape for the second time.

The jeepney driver was merely waiting a timing to escape, and now the jeepney driver was running away and escaping us and all possible responsibilities with the earlier accident with my vehicle. He was now speeding away very fast to the direction of Mindanao Avenue going to congressional area. I and my officemate boarded our vehicle also and run after the jeepney driver, I chased the driver as fast as I could, the jeep was running away fast, but the traffic in Mindanao Avenue slowed him down.

He not only endangered us during the earlier accident but is now endangering other motorist as well by his actions, he was speeding very fast making tight turns and dangerous overtakes to other vehicles in his struggle to escape us.

I was honking him and flashing lights to make him stop but still he continues, approaching a u-turn slot at Mindanao avenue, the jeepney driver made a u-turn, luckily there was two traffic enforcers riding in a motorcycle at that time. I shouted to the traffic enforcers that, that driver is running and escaping us due to an earlier accident, I shouted “pigilan ninyo yan tumatakas yan sa isang bangaan, tinakbuhan kame niyan, habulin, pigilin ninyo”. The traffic enforcers caught up with the driver and stopped him.

He was escorted to the right and safe side of the road, I told the traffic enforcers what happened earlier and that the driver was escaping. The traffic enforcers called the traffic sector in that area to send investigators, the key and official receipt and certificate of registration of the jeep and its driver was temporarily confiscated by the traffic enforcers to assure that the driver cannot escape this time.

When asked about the incident the jeepney driver stated to the traffic enforcers that he was escaping just to avoid delays on his part, the jeepney driver made concocted statements “kaya lang naman ako umalis kasi ayoko maistorbo at maabala, siya nga ang bumanga sa likuran ng jeep ko”.

We waited until the investigators arrived; one investigator rode with the driver on his passenger side while the other on his motorcycle followed the driver, we are third on the convoy. Were brought to the traffic sector 6, which is located at congressional road cor. Grants street. I gave written testimonies and other supporting legal documents needed by the investigator, I was given a police report of the accident.

Normal excuses for a jeepney driver., No money to pay etc. etc.

Good thing sir that you didn't give up, and you really taught him a lesson.

BTW, do you have any pictures of the damage done ? And what was the settlement bet. you and the optr. ?

Unless you can keep him behind bars, he'll be back on the street.

May isang kakilala ako nasa ganyang sitwasyon. Request niya sa jeepney driver na maghubad at pipitikin nalang niya itlog.

“kaya lang naman ako umalis kasi ayoko maistorbo at maabala, siya nga ang bumanga sa likuran ng jeep ko”
Baka mabasag ko mukha niyan right after he says that.

Una walang pera, tapos sunod ikaw na mali.

    That's quite the story spinner.

    :/
