My personal take, the college kid's story had too much emotion invested into it and rammed choke full of it. It was putting too much emphasis on certain details that would make people side with him, like claiming the driver of the other car was an Accenture manager or that her dad was a lawyer.
If the manager's car was really going too fast, then why would the college kid have time to see it coming from the side?
