5 dead after attending Pasay concert

MANILA -- Five people died Sunday after attending a concert at the parking lot of a mall in Pasay City on Saturday night.
The fatalities were identified as Ariel Leal, Lance Garcia, Bianca Fontejon, and a male American national.
The fifth victim, Ken Migawa, who was earlier reported to be in critical condition, has also died Sunday night.
The victims were found unconscious at different parts of the concert venue at the SM Mall of Asia.
Investigating officer Giovanni Arcinue, in an interview with Agence France-Presse, said police were looking at possible heatstroke or dehydration as the country is sweltering under high temperatures brought on by the El Nino weather phenomenon.
He also said it was too early to say that the deaths were caused by drug-laced drinks, despite rumors spreading on social media.
Close-up and its media partner, Eventscape, said in a joint statement that stringent measures and precautions were put in place to ensure the safety of all concert attendees.

They added that strict protocols were followed in providing immediate medical assistance to the victims and in rushing them to the nearest hospital.
They also committed their support to the families of the victims while ensuring full cooperation with the police investigations.
SM Supermalls, likewise, expressed its sympathies. Company president Annie Garcia said SM is assisting the event organizers and authorities in their investigation. -- With reports from Raphael Bosano, ABS-CBN News; Raya Capulong, dzMM; Agence France-Presse

Heard over TV that tat least two of the victims have already been interred -- i doubt if autopsies were performed.

Tsismis is that ecstasy was involved.

Normal ba ma-heatstroke pag gabi? Ang bagal ng investigation ng mga pulis natin. Yung isa, 18yo lang, st kasama sa dalawa na massive heart attack ang dinanas.

I think dehydration is plausible..heatstroke, maybe if the areas were crowded ala moshpit....but if it's the environment/weather then there should be more cases(non fatal) that night.

It is so sad since the 18 y/o girl, Bianca Fontejon, was a classmate of my kid in DLSZ last year. She is just a freshman in DLSU & had so much going for her. News floating around was that drinks were passed around & they did not know it was laced with ecstacy. Her friends with her did not even know she was already dead cause they thought she was just sleeping on the ground.

As per 24Oras, there were indeed water in plastic cups that were passed around during the concert. Sabi pa nga nung babae, if those were laced w/ drugs, dapat daw di lang lilima ang nabiktima. Dapat daw pati sua damay na.

It's possible that an ill-prepared batch of the drug to have zero effect on the majority, but a fatal one for the unfortunate five.

It's also possible that the fatalities took some drug earlier, which interacted with the drug in the spiked drink. i remember back in HS that mixing uppers and downers can be fatal.

Cardiac arrest is the direct cause of the death. BP shot up to 240 daw

But what caused the cardiac arrest? What increased the blood pressure?

they died because the heart stopped?
how were they able to get a blood pressure (or heart rate) from a dead body?

    Obvious na obvious naman eh.

A bad boy who teaches forgiveness | Inquirer News

The five persons who died suddenly during an outdoor concert in Pasay City could have ingested a cocktail of ***-enhancing drugs: “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), ecstasy and Viagra, according to police sources.

Viagra is not illegal but shabu and ecstasy are.

Ecstasy—a favorite of well-to-do, young partygoers—is a very dangerous drug and an overdose could be fatal.

An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency told this columnist that among the suspected sources of ecstasy in Metro Manila is a bar habitué who writes for the society page of a major newspaper.

Let this item serve as fair warning for him to stop his nefarious business; that is, if what I was told is true.

The incoming administration will be unforgiving even to people who hide under the mantle of journalism but engage in heinous crimes.

The Not SO Talented Delfin 'DJ' Justiniano Ocampo Montano II: Broke Tim Yap Scams GLOBE

What other reason would an accused drug trafficker/pusher have for not paying his bills?

When will GLOBE (people in general) realize that they're all being scammed by Tim Yap?
Are Filipinos really this desperate to have such a groundhog day carnivalesque one trick pony lead the way towards even more conscious free debauchery. Why do they continue to crawl towards his particular putrid brand of stench? What secrets does Tim know?
    And whose?

Tim reminds me of the tragic Imelda Marcos.
They are so very much alike in so many ways.
Both are still scamming the country all the while feeling 'above' the country itself.
They all scam really, but Tim is the master scammer.
Is Tim (treacherous Tim my friend at the Star calls him) starting to lose some of his 'shine'.
Yaps multiple thefts of mostly mediocre concepts are being chatted about (uttered perhaps by his salivating society interns/slaves/writers because they get paid nothing really and MUST be a rich kid to pip the post)!
Tim just teaches the rest how to scam using as much glitter and disco balls you can.
Filipinos are easily dazzled by good lighting and glitter.
    He knows that.
    We all know that.

"The cell phone bill of a lifestyle writer (TIM YAP)accumulated to a six digit figure I think he does not only answer/make calls when he is overseas. My hunch is that he runs a cell phone marathon every time he travels. With such a big usage, the management of this telecommunications company should be treating him like royalty. However, in this case, he was not. He was actually being contacted by the company's collection department because he refused to pay for the bill.

After months of not settling his outstanding bill, the media department of this company invited him for a dialogue. In the meeting, he proposed to published several press releases in exchange of his unpaid bill. Since the company wants to maintain a good relationship with this writer, the company had no other choice but to accept his offer."

Fashionpulis Blog -Tim Yap begs GLOBE- Will provide press release's in exchange for clearance of HUGE 6 figure blow out phone bill

Will shamed gutless Tim Yap say sorry again- this time to GLOBE for this obvious scam?
    I doubt it.
Scamming is just what Tim does.
    For a living.
