Ang mitsubishi ginagawa ito sa L300.

Yung ek civic sobrang economy car. Matipid sa gas yung manual trans, mura parts. Madali i-maintain. Sarap iharabas.

Only the carmakers themselves know for sure.

The L300 is classified as a commercial vehicle. Mitsubishi was pretty clear in positioning it that way so most Pinoys tend to know what to expect from it - very little in creature comforts but it's got a reliable 4D56 motor.

It's a little more complicated with passenger cars, where the march of technology has become a selling point.

Honda is no stranger to the practice of "recycling" old models. The SX8 City of 1997-2002 is actually a resurrected EF Civic, sold from 1988-1991, but modified to fit struts at all four corners instead of the EF's original double wishbones. If you were to sell the EK Civics again now, as a brand-new car, how would you position it? How would you sell it so that people would buy it over, say, a GM City?

    -Another market like taxi
-Mga tao ang reason lang pagbili ng kotse ay to go to their desired destinaton.

If they can price it around 500-550thousand patok ito.

I would disagree with the price. You can get gray-market EKs for much, much less than that. You've also got second-hand EKs to consider. Even an EK4 Civic SiR, a car that stubbornly does not want to depreciate, goes for PhP350,000 or so.

Also, one of the main reasons why the SX8s sold well here is because not many locals owned an EF, and they are still quite a rare sight. EFs were sold here in very limited numbers back when Honda Cars Philippines was a fledgling operation readying the EG Civics for sale. When the SX8 came along, nobody caught on to the trick that it was basically Honda's "fuel-economy special" - a resurrected car that weighed less than 1 ton, powered by D-series engines, and meant as basic no-frills transport. EKs don't quite enjoy the same privilege.

It's all about market positioning. A resurrected SX8 might work. offer less space and smaller engines than the current Honda City at 600k pesos. But getting the price right will be tricky. The margins will be incredibly thin at just 600k, there won't be budget for a good design, and without a good design, who's going to buy a new SX8 over a 1.2 Kia Rio that costs 50k less but offers similar fuel economy and much, much, MUCH more space?

Do a new EK, and like Type100 says, it's not going to be a fuel economy special like the SX8. Instead, you will be offering a car with less space than the current Honda City, but a base price at around 650-700k. It's not going to sell in the volumes required to justify the expense of setting up the line.

The L300 only works because Mitsubishi doesn't have any other product that competes (the L200 targets a different sector of the commercial utility market) and because it's a straight-up utility vehicle. A Honda Civic isn't. Not unless it comes with a diesel and seven seats.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    habits die hard.
while the 7-seater accommodation provided by the boxy l300 drew almost universal praise, the overall design is dated and most likely the tech underneath it. same issues for the 6th gen civic. i agree those vehicles are still desirable on a performance and emotional level, but demands change along with the economy. the attention to the practical aspect like technological advancements and developments in space economy giving smaller cars larger and more flexible interiors while maintaining relatively compactness in dimension- are now high priority. don't worry, our old folks share the same sentiments.

Why not honda philippines make the 6th generation civic a yearly production?
