right rear side
Left rear side
Right rear side
Back of the rear plate holder
under the driver's seat
driver's side (left) rear side. it's convenient cause i can easily view the meter when filling up...
Both MB's = right side
'92 Corolla, Civic SiR, Jazz = left side
Some cars have fuel tank caps on both sides (Jaguars), some at the rear (older 1960's/1970's cars), etc so I think the options do not cover everything (at least sana may "other" option)
Usually naman sa driver side. But I noticed mga old models ng Lancer, nasa right. Pati yun exhaust yata baliktad sa Lancer.
Hello tsikoteers. Newbie member here. Been browsing this site for a long time and reading the informative threads about almost anyhing. Wala lang time dati magpost but here's what I can share for those who may not be aware yet:
PROBABLY The Worlds Best Kept Auto Secret
I have been driving (legally) for two decades. One would think I would have noticed the little secret on my dash that was staring me right in the face the whole time. I didn't and I bet you probably haven't either.
Attachment 10364
Quick question, what side of your car is your gas tank? If you are anything like me, you probably can't remember right away. My solution is to uncomfortably stick my head out the window, strain my neck and look. If you don't do this in your own car you definetly have done it in a borrowed or rental car.
Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the gas station or put your neck at risk of uncomfort or injury.
If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump. The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the pump. If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left. If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo above). It is that simple!
I don't know how you feel right now but when I found out this morning I felt cheated!
Why don't the dealers share such importnant information with car buyers? I don't understand why this isn't in the drivers ed manual? I don't get why any mechanic I have ever been to or know has even thought of mentioning this to me? The only possible explantion can be that all these people probably don't even know!
Go out and share the worldʼs best kept auto secret with your friends as this is information is way too important to be kept secret.
About a week ago, I've heard the same thing word-for-word, read over the local FM radio here in Britain. Only a few seconds have passed by when callers started coming in, contradicting the said article. Of course, each caller mentioned the make and model of their car.
So the DJ's started discussing other ways, like what side of the instrument panel the fuel gauge is. People also called in to say it isn't so with their car. So they guessed that it might be what side the icon is on the gauge. And people still called in. Or where the gauge meter's pointed at. And yet callers came in.
I was kinda late and I have to get off the car before the chat was over. But after hearing all the contradictions I guess the only way to be sure which side the fuel filler cap is on - is to either stick your head out like Ace Ventura or step out of the car and have a look![]()

First welcome to tsikot.com.
Next, it would be best to familiarize yourself with some of the rules in tsikot.com like when posted articles taken from other websites, it is required that you also post a link to where it was taken.
Third, I think it has been previously mentioned in the discussion regarding filler lid position and fuel gauge does not hold true with all car models.
Sa Avanza, may triangle na naka point sa right. nasa right side ang lid.
I think the right placement should be wherever the driver side is... mitsubishi nga yata ang napapansin kong mali ang placement maybe they didn't change it na since ang original naman is sa japan which is right hand drive...
yep it's usually opposite the exhaust line but how about those with dual exhaust?![]()
