    Paki-share lang mga ideas nyo about shifting gears.
    To start movement 1st gear syempre , and once the car is already in motion, 2nd gear agad, then cruising 3rd gear, tapos 4th-5th gear when trying to get some more speed.
    My question is, at what speed km/h should you really change gears. Sabi nila when you reach 40 km/h dapat 4th gear ka na.
    How about pag traffic?
    Flooded streets/areas? 1st gear or 2nd gear.

    Actually, you should base your shifting on the tachometer (RPM) rather than the speedometer. Also depends on conditions and driving style. If you want to save on fuel, shift up when you reach 2000rpm.

    If the engine sounds like it's about to blow up, it's either time to shift up into the next gear, or if you're in top gear... slow down. :hysterical:

    The appropriate time to shift will depend on the engine and situation. For smaller gasoline engines, it's more appropriate to shift up at around 2500-3000 rpm (as long as the gears aren't incredibly long), while bigger gasoline engines and diesels will feel comfortable shifting up at 2000-2500 rpm.

    On most cars you start in 1st gear... on some you can start in 2nd (L300, anyone? :hysterical ) with no problems.

    There's no golden rule. In my old 1.3, I was in 4th by 50 km/h. In my 2.0, I'm in 5th. In the Focus diesel, I'm in 6th... ...as long as the car isn't lugging (naghihirap... or nagkakabayo...)... then you're in the right gear.

    There is no hard and fast rules. Generally, listen to the sound of the engine and let it be your guide.

    there are rules but its practically flexible, one can base it on the rpm

    around 2k rpm ako mag shift depending kung kelangan ng extra power like pataas or mag overtake.

    i usually shift before 2rpm. short shifting maybe, it works for me

    I usually shift at 2k rpm. Tipid sa gas.

    Pero pagfeel na feel ko pagdrive, 3k - 3.5k max na.

    Gaya ng nasabi ng marami eh Pakinggan at Pakiramdaman mo yung Makina.. usually pag aarangkada nako at wala o malayo yung nasa unahan ko na sasakyan eh saglit lang ako sa primera, as in pag ka release ko ng clutch sa primera eh tapak kagad ako para ilagay ko sa segunda (minsa basta pakiramdam ko eh nakaibo na yung sasakyan eh shift kagad sa segunda, para bang gigil ) then yung sa tersera at kwarta eh talagann pakiramdaman at pakinggan mo yung makina... pag pakinig mo na yung makina eh nasa sintido na eh shift mo na... pag pa baba naman eh dun ako hindi pa hiyang, hehehe... basta pag ibaba mo na yung shift eh try mo matutunan yung pag tantya sa bilis mo kung pde nabang ibaba o hindi.. kase kagaya ko minsan pag gigil ako mag maneho tpuz kelangan ko mag baba ng gear eh nag iistall ako, as in kulang nalang sapakin ako ni erpat pag sakay ko sya hehe... sisirain ko raw yung sasakyan pero yun nga you learn when you do mistakes, so pag natutunan mo na pakiramdaman yung tunog, andar at ingay na makina mo eh hindi mo na kelangan tumingin sa rpm at speedometer kung kelan ka dapat mag shift ng gear...

    hi po baguhang driver rin lang po ako.. medyo nalilito lang po ako sa ilang bagay sa driving.

    1. ok lang po ba na pagkastart mo ng kotse (syempre naka1st gear ka) at moving na sya smoothly for several meters puwede mo na completely irelease yong clutch para nakafoot rest na lang yong paa mo? di ba mula 2nd gear lang ginagawa yong pagbitaw ng clutch?ang pagkakaalam ko kasi pagnaka1st gear ka ang puwede mo lang completely irelease eh yong accelator kasi since nasa working level na yong sasakyan magmomove pa rin sya kahit wala na accelator/gas. kahit sa 2nd gear puwedeng umaandar ang kotse na talagang mabagal na nakabitaw sa gas basta nagroroll p rin ang sasakyan.

    2. ok lang po ba na magfull stop na naka2nd gear ka? syempre slow down muna or minimal break, then clutch down, then break to stop completely. pagkastop naman at pagmedyo hindi pa agad tatakbo ang sasakyan (halimbawa sa traffic o nakared light) magneuneutral ka, pero pag patakbo na rin ulit 1st gear na rin lang agad.

    3. kung puwede magfull stop na naka2nd gear, puwede rin ba itong gawin sa 3rd,4th and 5th gear na hindi ka na magdodownshift? ang gagawin mo na lang eh minimal break na lang hanggang sa talagang magslow down ang sasakyan then clutch down then break to stop completely? syempre naman po pagsakaling nakaslowdown ka na dahil sa tingin mo hihinto ka completely pero bigla pa lang nagmove na mga sasakyan hindi mo na need magstop kundi downshift ka na lang most likely downshift to 2nd gear.

    4. ano po ba ang pinakasafe na gear kung pababa ka na ng flyover na dirediretso para di ganon katulin at di naman rin ganon kabagal ang takbo mo pababa ng flyover?

    5. ano po ba yong tinatawag na coasting at engine break?
