What the article did not say:
Al-waleed is always followed by 3 vans with satellite dishes carrying 5 techs each which he uses to call anyone he wants from any place on Earth. He has to be able to connect within 10 secs or the vans' teams are fired (or maybe pugot ulo, being Saudi and all). Each van is worth upward of $1m. Btw, he pretty much made his own money, inubos kasi ng daddy nya and what he ended up with when his daddy died was the title, a couple hundred thousand US, and his relatives' generosity. His other toy is the George V in Paris... the world's most luxurious hotel.
Paul Allen's yacht is the biggest in the world (at least for another 4 months).
Larry Ellison was able to convince the city of SFO to build a canal straight to his house so his yachts could park there (got 7 of them, I think). See... this happens in the USA, too.
A Porsche 959 is so rare that today it is worth more than US$1m. Porsche lost money on every single one sold.
A Lincoln Town Car will start rattling and squeaking within one month of purchase.
Henry Sy (in the '90s) had 5 MB 140body S-class and 1 Accord. When lumalabas sa garage, sabay sabay yun in different directions, kaso lang ineffective kasi most people know he usually rode the Accord.

March 12th, 2006 02:13 PM #24actually, i think these billionaires buy their expensive cars through their companies kaya hindi sa kanila naka-register yung mga (mas) mamahaling sasakyan. tapos pwedeng palabasing expense ng company yun para sa CEO or chairman para maibawas sa tax expense ng company. so, nakapangalan sa kumpanya yung kotse pero in essence, sa mga billionaires talaga yun.

March 13th, 2006 12:18 AM #29this seems to be the problem of car crazy billionaires in the USA. Ther are soo many great cars that they can never drive in the streets of the US.
