October 4th, 2007 07:53 AM #12long long ago, our cars plate numbers were two letters and three numbers. Nung naubos na yan, they changed it to the present three letters and three numbers. Those cars with the old 2 letter 3 number setup, they were also mandated to switch to the three letter 3 number setup. Therefore, LTO gave a window to change plate numbers when it is supposed to be permanent.

so by logic...the next setup would be 4 letters/2 numbers or 4 letters/3 numbers? mas ok yung mas madaming letters kasi mas madaming combinations

October 4th, 2007 03:21 PM #14Dont know. The problem with the previous, when they shifted to the current 3 letter 3 number combination, cars back then, the space allocated for the plate number, couldn't accomodate the width of the license plate. So if they add another number or letter, the license plate would be bigger. The corollas I see for example, the space is just right for the present license plate. To install a wider license plate will mean they have to bend both ends of the plate, ugly to look at.
