January 20th, 2003 10:57 PM #11the early 90s VR4 had the same body as the 6th gen galant.
4G63T DOHC makina nya, 210 hp
all wheel drive, 4 wheel steering.
AFAIK, yung '94 galant VR ang unang kotse sa pinas na may automatic climate control.

January 21st, 2003 12:16 AM #12The "VR4" is the high performance version of the galant. This is as the "Evolution" is to the lancer. Even with recent models sporting V6 engines, there are still VR4 variants but unfortunately they aren't sold here.
The closest equivalent to the VR would be the old GTi. I'll list the top end of the normal line and the VR4 variant for the last 3 galant generations:
90s GTi - 4G63 i4 DOHC 145hp
90s VR4 - 4G63T i4 DOHC TURBO 240hp 4WD 4WS
95s VR - 6A12 v6 DOHC 165hp
95s VR4 - 6A12TT v6 DOHC TWIN TURBO 240hp 4WD
97s VR - 6A13 v6 SOHC 163hp
97s VR4 - 6A13TT v6 DOHC TWIN TURBO 280hp 4WD AYC

wala namang vr6 na galant tlga. misconception lang ng mga tao yun kasi yung vr model ng galant ay V6 eh. on the other hand, ang galant VR4 na term was coined kasi 4 wheel drive yung galant model na yun. yung mga VR4 bodies were those of the galant gti. meron ding lumabas na version sa latest body ng galant.

January 21st, 2003 01:27 AM #14there's also a 7th gen VR4. 5-door hatch version of your car with the 6A12TT and 4WD, but without the AYC that the 8th gen VR4 borrows from the Evo.

naging common term yung VR6 dahil sa makina. de-sais kasi. although if i recall correctly, wala talagang galant VR6 na badge yung car. pacorrect nalang po kung mali... super saloon lang po akin eh hehe
parang what xerox is to photocopying yung nangyari.

January 24th, 2003 12:18 AM #18hero, once again i'll clarify thhe galant badges ha... there is no such badge as VR6. only VR, which is powered by a 2.0 DOHC v6 for the bilog version, and 2.5 SOHC V6 for the shark version.
no, there wasn't a galant gti which was marketed as a vr4. what's the pont? eh, pareho lang naman ang body kits ng gti and vr4! engine and drivetrain lang pinagkaiba.
also, i've been told that meron daw vr4 na bilog version. i contested na wala, pero pinagpilitan ng mga tao dun sa kabilang board na meron daw, so... e di meron!

It is repairable. But as oj88 mentioned, it is messy (when repaired) and best used as a last resort.
