vr4 is the galant rally car of the early 90s.

Baka ibig mong sabihin, difference between the VR6 (yep, Mitsu marketed it here under that name) and the Super Saloon (same body, different engine). Tama po ba? Ito yung mga lumabas bandang 1994 (or a bit earlier yata). Yung parang mask of Zorro ang taillamps. hehehe.

Yung VR6 may side skirts, dual tailpipes, 15" rims (14" yung sa SS pero same design), power antenna, upgraded sound system (different HU, larger speakers), 3-spoke leather steering wheel (4-spoke polyurethane sa SS), and other minor details.

Near the end of their production run nagkaroon ng new colors, automatic climate control, chrome alloy wheels, leather seats and other goodies.

yup, that galant had the badge "VR." i have an old brochure of the '94-'97 galant here at home.

masyado na kasi tayo nasanay sa nakikita sa classified ads ng second hand cars. mali lahat ng nagsasabi ng "for sale: galant VR6."

as for the VR4, when i first noticed entries on newspaper classified ads labeled: "for sale: galant VR4" nagulat ako at akala ko na ganun pala kadami ang 210 hp AWD galant. yun pala, sila ay mga '94-'97 na galant super saloon, 4 cylinder, SOHC 4G63. :P

May brochure din ako dito pero yung mga huling labas na before nag-model change. Yung thin spoke ang wheels tapos automatic climate control. hehehe.

VR4 hindi ba DOHC and fuel injected siya (in comparison to the regular SOHC version na Super Saloon)? Tapos naka-full body kit na ready for take-off? hehehe. Early 90's na early 90's talaga porma nun.

the early 90s VR4 had the same body as the 6th gen galant.

AFAIK, yung '94 galant VR ang unang kotse sa pinas na may automatic climate control.

The "VR4" is the high performance version of the galant. This is as the "Evolution" is to the lancer. Even with recent models sporting V6 engines, there are still VR4 variants but unfortunately they aren't sold here.

The closest equivalent to the VR would be the old GTi. I'll list the top end of the normal line and the VR4 variant for the last 3 galant generations:

wala namang vr6 na galant tlga. misconception lang ng mga tao yun kasi yung vr model ng galant ay V6 eh. on the other hand, ang galant VR4 na term was coined kasi 4 wheel drive yung galant model na yun. yung mga VR4 bodies were those of the galant gti. meron ding lumabas na version sa latest body ng galant.

mitsu phils used the name vr4 pero ang alam ko dressed up lang yun na gti galant diba?..di naman talaga 4 wheel drive..parang ginawa ng nissan phils sa sentra super touring...puro cosmetic lang...tama ba ako?...vr6 naman ang v6 2.0L na galant na bilog mga 96-99 with the electronic climate control..hanggang ngayon with the shark look may vr6 pa rin...

hero, once again i'll clarify thhe galant badges ha... there is no such badge as VR6. only VR, which is powered by a 2.0 DOHC v6 for the bilog version, and 2.5 SOHC V6 for the shark version.

no, there wasn't a galant gti which was marketed as a vr4. what's the pont? eh, pareho lang naman ang body kits ng gti and vr4! engine and drivetrain lang pinagkaiba.

also, i've been told that meron daw vr4 na bilog version. i contested na wala, pero pinagpilitan ng mga tao dun sa kabilang board na meron daw, so... e di meron!

nakita ko po sa website ng mitsu japan a few years back (mga 6 yrs na siguro) na meron ngang bilog na VR4. meron kasi kaming VR dati, and i was comparing the specs of local VRs and japs VRs. dun ko nakita yung VR4.

i think nagsimula lang ang vr6 na yan sa classifieds para tipid letra..kaya naging vr6 ang vr v6....ang di ko lang alam talaga kung ano yung vr4 at nakakakita rin ako niyan sa classifieds...ito lang ang tanong e anong itsura nun vr4..is it the galant body of the gti/mpi...the bilog or the shark yun lang tapos ang usapan natin! ehehehe
