Yes, the Hennessy Venom is a tuned-up/modified Dodge Viper. The Gumpert is named after one half of the car's creator -Roland Gumpert, the manager of Audi's motorsports departmenr during the 70's and the 80's. Ascari is a super-car manufacturer from Spain - they also manufacture the Ecosse. SSC is a Florida-based super-car manufacturer.

The Thrust SSC does hold the world record. It's the only land-bound wheeled vehicle to break the speed of sound.

Stupid supercars.net... they ignored the cheapest supercar... the Corvette Z06.

As mentioned, the Thrust SSC, a British creation, is the world record-holder in land speed, SSC meaning "super sonic car".

It is not to be confused with SSC (Shelby Super Cars) based in the USA, maker of the SSC Ultimate Aero.
