Ok, ito. Cute at mas mura pa sa Legend na gawa ng Norkis.

It wouldn't be hard to bring it in... Norkis could sell it... ...would make their other products seem a bit silly, though.

Even with duties, that'd cost maybe 150,00 pesos here, brand new... and with an emissions-compliant engine that can do 50 mpg... dayumn....

That is because it'll cost around $2,500 more to make it pass crash safety tests being done outside of India.

Also, Tata stated that they plan to export this (after doing that) by 2012. Currently, it's only available for the Indian domestic market.

The press release states that it exceeds current safety regs... safety regs in which country, I don't know...

It'd be enough in the Philippines... and it'll be safer than a motorcycle, that's a fair bet. At 600cc, even if it's classed as a motorcycle, it'll still be able to take the highway..., but with just 30+ hp, it might just be a rolling road-block out there...

Dayumn... it's small, underpowered, ugly... I want one!

Tata is one of the biggest car-makers in the world at this point. You may think that India is poor, but they have a huge consumer market, which means that you can make a very profitable business just catering to the locals. Tata sells a lot of cars.

Here in the Philippines, the most you can expect to sell locally if you're developing an indigenous vehicle is a couple of thousand units... 10,000 - 20,000 if you're lucky, every year... with start-up costs and development of modern vehicles costing millions of dollars, that isn't even enough volume to give you the money to develop a decent looking car... let alone the mechanical package that goes along with it.
