It doesn't matter if it's a physical shifter, knob, or button. There is still a dedicated "Park" mode wherein the transmission stops transmitting power and sets the parking pawl. It is a mode that must be manually engaged or disengaged by the driver.
Just splitting hairs to say that the auto-hold does not put the transmission in Park. It just applies the brakes.
Exceptions to the rule may apply to say, cars with various degrees of self-driving capabilities and EVs. They most often don't have an actual transmission so the actual brakes on each wheel works as a replacement for the parking pawl.
