That used to be the case. In fact, there was a time during the transition to the "invisible hood" when LED markers were added to assist the driver in gauging where the corners are. But these were also eventually dropped.

Namiss ko yun LED markers sa hood hahaha. May ganyan yun sentra LEC namin dati. Elementary palang ako nun haha. Kulay green pa. Ang cool lang haha. Meron pa nga sa washer e. hahaha.

BTT. Nung una nakakapanibago talaga. Actually natakot nga ako, pano na yan, hindi kita yun hood. Paano ko matatantya, pero actually mas nadalian ako kasi ang ikli ng hood ng vios. Sanayan lang talaga siguro.

Same here. We had a '92 Sentra ECCS. The markers' glow made the car look elegant at night. But by today's standards, di na uso at di na rin kailangan. When I got my '07 Civic, it took me a few days to get accustomed to the shorter front end. When I initially parked it facing forward, I am literally 2 meters away from the wall. But from the inside, it looks like the wall is just a couple feet away.

Now, I can park it down to less than 6 inches fron the wall without breaking a sweat. I've got laser range finder for eyes. Lol.

JohnM is correct and the reason why most hoods have a raised design. You can clearly see this safety feature especially on all recent designs from Volvo.

hirap ba parallel parking? eyeball mo muna yung space kung kasya. sa quezon city madali ma-eyeball kung kasya ang kotse mo. 3 blocks ng red sidewalk = 1 sedan/crossover car length plus 1 meter space (1/5 meter sa harap + 1/2 meter sa front). pag GS dala ko it is 3-1/2 sidewalk blocks. kuha? basta bilangin mo yung guhit ng sidewalk na red yun na yun. move forward and position rear edge of vehicle about 6-12 inches beside the car in front at an angle, then back up with your opposite side mirror aligned to your vehicle's opposite rear end to the center of the license plate of the vehicle at the back. when you feel the rear tyre on the gutter turn the steering wheel full (as in todo kabig hangang mag-lock) to the opposite side and continue to back up. guaranteed di sasayad ang front bumper sa rear bumper ng vehicle in front kung nasa gutter na yung gulong na sidewalk side at kung nakikita mo yung front license plate ng vehicle na nasa likod. when the front sidewalk side tyre is on the gutter turn the steering wheel to center and advance 1 foot. centro na centro yan, parang sinukat.

remember the trick is for you to memorize your vehicle's lenght vis-a-vis easily seen markers, like the sidewalk blocks in quezon city. also, 2nd important is that you center the rear vehicle's license plate in the opposite side mirror. sa madaling salita tutumbukin mo yung license plate ng sasakyan sa likod sa side mirror na opposite ng sidewalk. gets?
