Manila implements new ticket system today

Despite the Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) opposition, the city of Manila will start implementing its own ticketing system today, November 7.
City Ordinance 8092 imposes a new traffic management code in the city of Manila. This means that the MMDA enforcers stationed in Manila will no longer have the authority to issue traffic violation receipts (TVRs).
The city treasury of Manila will be the recipient of the collected fees paid by the erring motorists.
However, the MMDA has also announced that they will not recognize Manila’s new ticketing system and that the MMDA enforcers will continue to issue receipts against traffic violators.
While the city of Manila is referring to the City Ordinance, the MMDA said that Republic Act 7924 dictates that traffic management is included in their mandated job.
