I thought about that when GT1 came out and I was in the US, some C&D/MT editors were wondering the same thing...
Geeky programmers drove over 500 cars in real life in high performance?
Bunchacrock hehe...
But still, it's a gap between the real thing and the real world for us.

About manufacturers paying GT programmers to make their cars faster, the Mitsubishi GTO was clearly the best-performing vehicle in GT1, the Toyota Supra 2nd. You also cannot put turbos to just about any NA cars there, unlike in real life.
Another example of paid video game programming is in Initial D Arcade Stage Version 2, where the Honda Integra was the best performing car by far, while in reality it would understeer all over the place and get left behind in an uphill togue battle due to its practically torqueless engine.
On the bright side though, it's nice to know the cars and tuning are getting more and more accurate in GT4.Last edited by squala; August 9th, 2005 at 12:50 AM.

Well, those are his observations, but he's not a lifer (read: addict). He mentions the NSX seems great in the game, but that's if you play it lightly or you're a kid. There are a lot of cars in the game better than an NSX.
Manufacturers don't really pay to have their cars "better" in GT. What they do is spend a lot on sending the makers reams and reams of data and tons of test time on their cars. BMW uses GT for car testing now, and worked hard with Polyphony Digital on their cars for GT4, so did Ford, that's why the new BMW 1 series, 3 series and the Ford Mustang are in the game, while some other manufacturers are poorly represented.
Kids who play a lot know the greatest car in the world is the Pagani Zonda. GT made it the Lamborghini Countach of the computer age. :D

Unless there's a UK version of GT4, I also noticed another mistake, wherein the Focus RS can be found in Ford US as a left-hander, while the actual car isn't even available there.
It's also nice to know how manufacturers rely on video games to make their cars better and better.
I also prefer silver. hindi halata na madumi na and some imperfections like faded color and slight...
