    I dont have one, but some of my friends usually buy them cause of their low price, usual probs;

    * under powered
    * ibang turn ratio ng left to right
    * if you look closely sa dashboard parang may mali, pinilit yung trimmings.

    Again these are from what i observed from friends cars.

    kung walang katumbas na version yung imported car na bibilhin mo sa pinas ang magiging problem ay piyesa. these imported vehicles were deemed road worthy in the country they were imported from kaya quality wise baka mas mataas pa siya compared sa local version, magkakatalo na lang sa conversion work quality. pero kung di lang pinagkakaperahan ng gobyerno na sapilitan kelangang convert (sa US at Canada kasi walang law against drivingh RHD kaya pwede kang magdrive nito doon) mas nakakaengganyong bumili ng imported version.

    I'm saying this kasi may mababasa ka sa thread dito na may mga dealer na kapag nakabenta ng lemon (bago pero sirain) eh ayaw palitan ng brand new na matino. puro repair lang gagawin hanggang ma-out of warranty. full price na binayad mo tapos sakit pa ng ulo bibigay.

    i have 2 converted vehicles.. we only bought these coz there are no local version of it..

    sa parts wala naman problem, yung dash board lang talaga halatang converted.. pero sa power, efficiency at steering wala naman problema... yung nga suzuki every namin ganda lumiko.. parang tricycle kahit gipit kaya sa isang pihit..hindi din nag wiggle kahit 120kph takbo...

    pero kung bibili ka lang kasi hindi mo afford yung local like pajero / jazz / yaris eh wag na lang... pero kung yung bibilin mo eh yung mga kakaiba like nissan cube, toyota BB eh maganda naman kasi hindi trying hard ang dating

    Sir, based on my experience, it's ok to have a japan surplus vehicle. I bought a nissan elgrand and no big problem so far. I chose this vehicle because of the availability of the parts both mechanical and underchassis. Runs great, fast and comfortable and looks great too. Same thing with my bighorn. My advise, try asking around and search the web for info. I agree that if you get a japan surplus, get one that really looks different than the local versions. Style points for being unique and daring to be different I guess.

    bought an Isuzu Big Horn (Trooper) before and eto naging problema ko:
    1. Turning Radius ay maliit at hindi pantay
    2. Halatang cut and re-attached ang dashboard
    3. Yung side mirrors naka orient sya for right hand drive kaya kulang sa adjust for left hand drive
    4. The shift handle and indicator sa console naka orient for right hand drive
    5. Yung Aircon hindi maganda pagka convert kaya yung expansion valve eh nasa side ng malamig na hangin kaya sandali pa lang umaandar, nag automatic shut off na kaya maiint aircon

    Pero you can avoid these problems if you will get the unit from a long time importer na magaling sa conversion. Yung unit ko kasi nakuha hindi maganda at maayos pagka convert kaya puros problema. Sold the unit after 5 mos ko nagamit. Bring a good mechanic with you to check the steering system (kung tama yung mga parts na kinabit at hindi katay from different brand units). Also check how the aircon was converted, kung niremedyuhan lang ba or pinalitan ng pang left hand talaga. madalas kasi sa mga importers, nireremedyuhan lang to convert to left hand drive kaya puros problema ang kasama sa unit.

    If it's done right, a converted unit is okay. But if it isn't, it isn't. And there's no point in buying a converted unit if the original left-hand drive version is already sold locally. Wala ka pang sakit sa mga checkpoint (assuming Cagayan plates ang car).

    That kind of problem isn't limited to the Philippines. Foreign lemon laws don't demand replacement of the entire car, just the faulty part.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    hindi ba bawal na mag import ng mga 2nd hand cars? or pwede pa din through "authorized" ports of entry?

    lately kasi i've been seeing surplus car for sale ads from a davao city based importer. or may "special" permit sila kaya ganoon?
