According to the LTO, only the Top 5 (Pres, Vice-Pres, Senate Pres, Speaker of the house, Chief justice) and Emergency Vehicles (Police, Ambulance, Fire Trucks) are allowed to use sirens and blinkers........If not mentioned above then it is illegal period. Even doctors are not allowed to use it.......If ever you see somebody doing this illegal act call the LTO hotline.......921-9072.....give location where seen, plate no., make of vehicle and color. Anonymity guaranteed.

Hayyy if only someone listens to these complaints. Asa pa tayong may makikinig at aaksyunan nila. Tangnang mga feeling to. And coming from Raul Gonzalez, asa pa tayong something good will come out of this. Sana lang talaga merong tirahin na mga ganyan, tingnan na lang natin. Although hindi naman salot lahat ng politiko. Former DOH Secretary Dayrit madalas kong nakakasabay sa Sucat and he hardly has any escort. If meron man, they don't drive like they own the road.

    Only in the Philippines

after reading this thread... nakonsyensya ako... i dont use wang-wang... but in the past week, i had 2 counterflows in major roads... one in libis (near eastwood, kahit may island, and one in congressional) to cut u-turns... i flash my light and hazard lang ako until makarating sa pupuntahan... lahat ng tumingin, mura ang inabot... shucks... sorry...

screw their bodyguards na taong bayan ang nagpapasweldo... they only give allowances to their bodyguards.... military at police ang guards right? kaya gobyerno rin ang nagbabayad dun, tapos ang yayabang pa nila...

I'll save up for a top floor condo in Ortigas or Quezon City, and a .50 cal Barrett sniper rifle and a Leupold scope. Should fix these guys up. Hahahaha.

OT: Approx. 2 km maximum effective range. Quite potent. Hehehe.

    OnT:

Unfortunately, this sort of attitude is only the tip of the iceberg. It's a symptom of the Filipino's worsening social and behavioral problems. While it is certainly deplorable that such blatant disregard for simple road courtesy would come from those who are supposed to be society's role models, the ordinary Pinoy is in no way exempt from such obligations. And yet, everyday, we see people who litter indiscriminately, spit in plain view, jaywalk, PUV drivers unloading in the middle of the street- until we police ourselves and start keeping our own backyards clean, politicians in screaming Expeditions and luxury cars will continue to be everyday fare. Sad.

I suppose we can all curse the bodyguards but I believe the bigger a** is the person they're suppose to be "protecting". If that government official condones (or worse, even encourages) this type of behavior, then I can understand how these bodyguards can feel invincible and untouchable. "Resback nila si boss e."

Also, isnt it funny that the police can pull you over and charge you with so many road violations (they seem to know these definitions by heart) but they seem to be instantly rendered blind (and deaf) when a convoy drives by with all the lights flashing and wang-wangs blaring.

I admire the police man who would have the balls to pull them over and issue them a ticket. Unfortunately, given how things work in our country, I have a feeling he'll be out of a job the next day.

I actually had a siren and blinker and in my car when i was still in college. Do you know maybe 1/6 of college students in La Salle had sirens and blinkers? So chances are, when you meet a private car with sirens, it's a college student :p

I removed mine long time ago. I found it pretty useless really. And having it only makes me feel "powerful" and more prone to not follow the traffic regulations. Furthermore, you only get to where you are going maybe 5 minutes or less ahead of if you hadn't used it. hehe. So what's the point?

But going back to the topic of government officials, it's actually the press who are in the position to do something. If the press keeps airing this gripe of the public over and over and over again. Only then will the government start listening. There is a law prohibiting the use of sirens unless you are a one of the allowed (eg firetrucks etc.) but i think the problem is also the issuing of the license for the sirens. I think whoever does the issuing will give these government officials a license even if it isn't for a valid vehicle.

So maybe we should bug the press about it?

any emails addresses to send email to?
