just like to know your opinions, ano po ba para sa inyo ang sapat at tama lang na displacement ng sasakayan. sapat na power(for overtaking instances, etc.) yet fuel efficient (around 6-9km/l i guess...?) and why? thanks.

for me i guess its 1.6 which is the usual displacement of a sedan.

I think 1.6 would be sufficient. Pero depende nman sa lugar..like here in the states, so far 1.8 plng ang nakikita kong pinakamaliit, 1.6 would labor in freeways. Pero jan sa pinas sapat na ang 1.6.

For freeway/highway long distance cruising, 3.0L or greater V6 will do on a family sedan.

For smaller cars like sports coupes, 4-cyl turbos are fine.

nakakabitin in my opinion ang 1.6 while overtaking, something i've never felt while driving 2-liter cars

What size is the sedan? A 300C is a sedan but a 1.6 really woudn't work on it. For a Corolla size car then a 1.8-2.0L would be fine anything beyond 2.0 for a 4 cylinder engine IMO just gets too rough on high revs.

when i drove in the philippines i got the impression that 2.0 was plenty of power on the roads there for a passenger car. a little bit bigger for the heavier SUV's.

here in the US where merging speeds and average highway speeds are much higher, you can get by with a 1.6, but if you get used to a 3.0 you'll never go back

Dito sa pinas tama nang pang all around ang 1.6, city driving with the occassional out of town trips. Pero kung mostly city ok na ang 1.3 na compact para madali ipark and matipid.

Both cars in my profile are 3.0L. Yung isa, inline-5 turbodiesel. The other, inline-6.

Sa Pinas, our 1.3L i-DSi Jazz is sufficient for runabouts, but for highway, olats!! Maaawa ka sa lakas ng makina if you try to overtake at speed with that engine (and with a CVT too). Now I know why CVT is not offered here yet.

If I lived in a very urban city area (like downtown LA) then a smaller car with a smaller engine would be best. But our place has a lot of freeway driving in excess of 100kph, sometimes even reaching an average of 140kph all day. Hirap na ang 1.3L to reach those speeds, the 1.6L is sufficient - but to ease wear and tear on the engine, and considering strict emissions requirements here in CA, a 1.8L will do with its added power.

For larger sedans (like the MB S, BMW 7, Audi A8, etc) definitely V8 power will be great, somewhere above 4.0L is sufficient.

The Maybach is such a large sedan also, but that monster has a huge V12 biturbo engine!

for you what is the most adequate displacement for a sedan?
