    tanong ko lang po, pag nasa 3rd gear ako tapos nasa 2K rpm, 60kmh... napansin ko parang kumakatok ung makina ko pag inapakan ko pa konti yung gas pedal. Under power po ba ginagawa ko? Dapat po ba mag shift ako from 2nd to 3rd pag 2.5-3K rpm?
    2000 4AFE po, MT, walang mods.
    unleaded po gamit ko.

    hey bro, well how loud is the "knocking" sound?? also, are you sure na "katok" ang naririnig mo? kasi pag may "kumakatok" usually masama ang ikalalabas nun ("katok"= internal engine prblem). BUT, kung may "tope" or "pinging" ang naririnig mo then its either masyadong Advanced ang Timing mo or mababa sa Octane ang gasolina mo.

    anywayz, make sure that you first check your Engine Oil Level, and make sure its full. then, kung ok naman ang oil level then lets hope na may "tope" lang ang makina mo, since thats an easy fix.

    yun sir yung term, "TOPE" pala. bagong change oil naman, and mas madalas ma-TOPE kun v-power po gamit ko. pag idle nasa 700-800 ang RPM.

    ok, then thats even better! well, kung may "tope" lang eh siguro ipa check mo yung timing ng makina. baka masyado lang advanced ang timing. also, kelan last time na i-tune up ang makina?

    i got it dec 2007, di ko po alam last tune up nya. pag idle then nasa 800 rpm, possible pa rin po ba maging advanced masyado yung timing? kun ganun, hiramin ko timing light ng kapitbahay ko para ma check. i think there's a way para makita ung timing through one of the external pulleys.

    either you use a higher octane fuel or retard mo ng onti ang timing.

    or check overall tuning.

    Bro, i've had the same problem, i had a MITSU GALANT 1999 and it would make a knocking sound kung irerev ko, parang may loose sa mga pistons or something sa loob. that might require overhauling the engine.pero ipapa check mo muna atleast 3 or 4 different car shops para malaman mo kung ano talaga.

    thanks bro! fortunately 'pinging' lang or 'tope' yung naririnig ko and it only occurs sa third to fifth gear. nawala naman sya nung nagpalit ako ng replacement filter. although OEM yung nakalagay dati, luma na kaya siguro di maganda air flow.

    sir OT lang po, 4AFE po engine nyo diba? 2K RPM at 3rd gear 60KPH? huhu, d ko na alam gagawin ko sa corolla ko,, 60KPH is 2.5K RPM at 4th gear pa aken sabi nila gauge ko may problem, pero la naman ako makitang panel gauge na pampalit

    sir 4AFE rin, kung ang sira talaga is guage marami nyan sa evangelista or banawe. kung may kilala ka na pareho ng auto mo and willing ipahiram guage nya mas maganda kasi malaman mo talaga kung yun nga ang sira. BTW, pag nasa 60KPH ako ang actual nya is 70KPH kasi naka 195/60/15 ako na gulong. ikaw sir ano size ng gulong mo?

    nangyari nadin sakin to before sa corolla ko, nung pinagawa ko sa spdyfix, sbi mali daw timing ng spark plugs.. so inadjust lang.. ayos naman..kaso after mga 2 weeks ayun nanaman.. kaso mas mahina nga lang.. usually kapag magoovertake on 2nd or 3rd gear... bakit kaya?

    last January i uderstood na magka-iba ang timing and idling. timing pertains to the ignition while idling is to RPM.

    update...
    i adjusted the distributor assy about 2mm counter clockwise. nawala nga ang tope pero nabawasan ang hatak. i'll observe again after i adjust it 1 mm clockwise.
