    Just wondering...

In some cars (like my Altima), the speedo only shows up to 200kph, needless to say, kayang kaya lumagpas ng 200kph oto ko since it doesn't even take long to reach 180kph... what happens when you do reach beyond 200kph and hanggang dun lang yung meter? lalagpas sya?

Di ko lang sure sa kotse. pero sa spedometer ng bike ay lumalagpas dun sa nakasulat km/h. Depende siguro kung may stopper sa 200 km/h yung odometer mo. Kung walang stopper ay sure ako na lalagpas yan.

yup ... and also drove mitsu, toyota, mazda, hyundai, daewoo in the past ... never a nissan, so i never knew nissan can make such a stupid mistake until this thread ... in fact in all the 30 years i've been driving, i've never seen an "underrated" speedometer ( i've only driven a few brands/models but i do pedal-to-metal on all of them just to see the top speed)

but i'd still wouldn't mind having one of those older exalta (2000 model) or the sleek cefiro in the mid-90's

There are quite a few cars that can exceed their speedometer like that... here's the reason... JAPANESE SPEED LIMITERS. Certain japanese market cars are computer limited to 180kph as stock (even... QUE HORROR... the Skyline). Thus, no need for anything above 200 kph on the speedo, right? What about cars in other markets, where the limiters aren't put in place? Oops...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Well, perhaps it's not underrated. It's just built for the country it will be used I guess. Dito sa pinas nga bihira ang mga daan na makakaabot ka ng 200km/hr. Sa ibang bansa pa kaya na mostly naman ay strictly implemented ang speed limit?

do you know that a JDM R33 GTR only has a 200kph speedo limit. i think in Japan they have a speed limit of 185kph or 113mph. for almost all car manufacturers.

Tutunog yan ng 'ting', 'ting', ting', 'ting', parang mga taksi sa Singapore tumutunog pag umabot ng 100 kph

Thanks for the correction RE: skyline, basti... (di ko kaya kasi i-edit, hirap sa cellphone)... Nissan 2.0s have a 185 kmh speedlimiter in Japan and on some US models (certain SE-Rs). We don't, kaya ganyan. We get the Japanese speedo because we use KMH, but not the limiter, kaya lampas ung speed sa speedo. Astig nga sa local na Altima, no limiter, no emissions restrictions... all fun.

I don't have to worry about top speed going over what the speedometer shows.

Our 2006 Sonata GLS V6 has a 160 mph speedometer when top speed is drag-limited to 137 mph (from Car and Driver; I've only taken it to 130 mph so far due to traffic).

Our 1995 Ford Contour SE has a 125mph speedometer when top speed is governed to 115 mph

My 1991 Plymouth Laser has a 143 mph speedometer. Both Car and Driver and Road & Track listed the top speed at 143 mph and I've personally taken it to 142mph. After I had the HKS refit, an auxiliary speedometer was fitted which covered speeds up to 160 mph although I don't think the Laser can go that fast.... Maybe a bit over 150 mph, but certainly not 160 mph.

You'll be surprised that a sportscar like a 350Z has its needle pointing only to a maximum of 180kph. That is ofcourse JDM.

Going over the speedometer's limit
