first, linawin natin kung ano ang sleeper

a car that has performance mods but looks stock

    ginalaw AFTER nabili

if you buy a car that's already high performance from the factory, it's not a sleeper

coz everyone knows it's built that way (like STI, Evo etc)

kaya sleeper tawag kasi nobody knows kinalikot pala, di halata from the outside it is faster than stock

until the driver steps on the gas

The perfect example of sleeper in Top Gear Season 16, episode 2.

A seemingly innocent, all-stock Ford Transit van, with suspicious lowered suspension and sport tires.

    And a Jaguar XJ220 engine.

I would dearly love to see that van smoke some rice farmers.

MS with open type KNN filter and 265x70r16 tires mated to a pajero ralliart rims. Mukhang stock pero vs a stock MS of the same kind..., iiwan sa biritan. Tama ba? hehe

IMO since may sport tires and lowered suspension eh, ricey na ata ito? Halata kung ganun. Dapat sleeper lang siguro. Like an XFR with R badge from the rear removed para yung hood louvers lang ang telltale sign ng performance niya (for someone who is a car enthusiast). Kung hindi ko nabasa sa top gear yan, malamang hindi ko din malalaman ang difference specially kung moving yung vehicle. Now that's a sleeper. Peace....

How much of a "sleeper" do you want? ... factory stock or modified?

Sleeper cars are usually modified internally while externally is usually left untouched.

Example, Nissan Sentra Super Saloon with a SR20DET motor producing over 210hp, coil-over suspension set to stock height and 15" stock Nissan wheels with ADVAN tires.

    Ford FOCUS TDCi.

It is quick straight from the dealer.

Making it quicker is as easy as a UNICHIP upgrade, increased boost and an alcohol injection kit. Everything hidden under the hood.

End result, a f*cking quicker car.

I wouldn't really place the LYNX RS in the list.

Driving it fast can result in a blown engine or damaged tranny.

Corolla 1.3L Turbo ( 4EFTE ) - but somehow, that rectangle aluminum that peeks through the bumper gives you a little hint of what's inside the hood.

    4AGE ST/BT Corolla

3SGE ( 2.0L ) Corolla - May alam ako. Ex-taxi, white pa and black bumpers na may ganitong engine.

    A Lancer with a 4G63 engine.

    A Nissan with a SR20DET engine ^ like GH's ... :naughty2:

    CASA cars ?

Subaru Forester XT. Looks are bland. But very powerful.

Ford Focus TDCi, boring looks. Fast car.

Hyundai Accent. Mukhang taxi, but impressive torque.

    Toyota Alphard 3.5L

Nothing to do because this van is freakingly fast even when compared to sedans and compacts.

Racing helmets should be standard issue with this van.

OT lang since I'm curios on this Sir GH. Even yung stock Lynx RS. May problem/defect ba sa engine or tranny nila or kung may mga mods lang?

    *Ry_Tower:

    Not rice at all.

You try putting an engine as powerful as the Jaguar XJ220's on something big and unwieldy like a commercial van without tweaking/changing the suspension and tires.

Gonna be one hell of a ride.

Well, just an example lang. I couldn't afford it if I tried having one setup.

The one I had only had a SR20DE motor dynoed at slightly over 150whp (roughly 175-180hp) and it was fast and fun.

It is a problem of design and materials used. Stock.

The motor can have oil starvation issues when driven at high rpms resulting in the motor self-destructing if maintained for longer than a couple of minutes.

Tranny issues have it's roots in the "soft" metals used in the gears. Accelerated wear & tear can be seen on the gears.

Ah hindi ba DET. Akala ko DET yung sayo. And I did remember reading one of your/niky's posts that DET's are harder to maintain as compared to DE's ? Mhmm, probably because of it being a turbo rather than an NA ?

180hp is still 180hp. :naughty2: Can eat an SiR, alive.
