Yebo...hahaha. Kala ko may scientific explanation ka nanaman.

The reason I asked is, like most of us, I doubt whether it helps... I mean, elementary school science taught us that liquids follow the shape of the container, and is always level. Hindi naman bigas ang kinakarga natin na magkakaron ng mound...

Chieffy does has a point though. I have not opened my car's fuel tank and don't know its shape (well except for the Beetle's which is just under the hood and is easily recognizable as just a regular box). Definitely, a certain shape might cause air to be trapped if filled with liquid from the top. And for mileage computation, it's a good idea. Not for regular practice though.

Besides I do not fill my tank to full capacity. Mahal na ngayon ang magpa-full tank. Hehe.

Bata pa ako may ganon na... cars, jeeps, PUs, cabs, etc. It's like revving your car just before you shut off the engine. (Sadly my dad does this last one, force of habit daw, kahit ilang beses ko nang napag-sabihan.)

painitin muna makina bago drive off (on modern cars this actually increases engine wear, sayang pa gas)
rev muna makina bago shut-off (see above)

    and my all-time favorite....

wag gamitin ng husto ang turn blinkers, kasi baka "maubos" :bwahaha:

Ngayon ko lang narinig 'to. Maybe that explains why many people don't use turn signals around here.

hmm im guilty of this one.

but not in the sense of adding more km to my mileage..but to mix the fuel that is remaining in the tank with the new one..i dont do it often, just at the start of the flow of the gas to the tank. i get a full tank kasi pag kalahati na yung gauge indicator eh..i dont use up all the fuel..ayaw ng dad ko kasi baka daw mmya may emergency then paano na daw kung ubos na yung gas..and what if kung may pupuntahan pang unexpected places...hassle. so we get a full tank pag half na.

efi equipped cars only need around between 10-45 seconds to "warm-up". then you have to drive the car slowly (low revs only) to properly warm it up. check your car's manual for the recommended "idle time".

Madalas ko ginagawa itong paguga ng sasakyan para labas ang sobrang hangin sa loob ng tangke. Dagdag din na 2 liters of fuel para umabot hanggang next week.

shaking your car while filling can damage your floater. resulting to inaccurate fuel gauge reading.

I don't think that simple shake will do that damge, vehicles are subjected to much worse shaking by driving, g-force reactions & faster turns.

Do you "shake" your car when you get a full tank?
