Did you lose brake when vehicle is running?what do you do?

tanong lang po kung nangyari sa inyo na mawalan ng brake habang tumatakbo?

any idea how to bring the car to a safe stop ?

release the gas pedal.

pull up the parking brake as high as it will go.

put the car in 2nd gear and kiskisin ang clutch para gumana ang engine brake.

if automatic... put the car in neutral or if you have +/- tiptronic, in 1st gear.

Yup. E-Brake and engine brake are your best bests in case of catastrophic failure ng regular brakes. I've never had a need to resort to it, thank God. Pero I practice it in my head once in a while.

Kung mabilis ang takbo, Engine Brake muna, go down the gears one by one till 1st gear is reached. If slow enough, use the hand brake. Using the hand brake during high speed is not advisable IMHO.

hindi ba applicable lang yan sa mga air brakes?

na experienced ko na rin ng mawalan ng brake sa daan. papunta ako sa auto shop para magpapalit ng brake pads at habang nasa daan ako, nasira yung brake ko. nasa busy street ako noon. kaya singit at ilag ang ginawa ko at dahil auto yung transmission ko noon, nag gate shift ako para mag slow yung makina. malas nga lang, umabot ako sa downhill kaya napilitan akong ibangga yung sasakyan sa curb para lang mahinto. tow truck na ang naghatid sa sasakyan sa auto shop.

Won't pulling the E brake as high as it can go promote the rear end to slide out and possibly your car to spin? I think control via steering input is also critical to stop the car properly as much as one can control the car.

experienced this last year while i was traveling along katipunan. bigla nawalan ng preno yung crv ko. was cruising at about 40-50kph then. i just pumped my brakes again and again and thank God, bumalik siya.

Ripping the E-Brake to stop your car is a big no no . How do I know? I did it before in a RWD car and it wasn't fun. It spun the rear end very quickly and required good steering reflexes which I thought I had .

I believe that the best way still when God forbid you do lose all your brakes while running, keep pumping the pedal, vigorously. Most of all try not to panic.

happened to me twice on in Manual gear I lost total break but I manage to control muntik na ko pulutin sa palayan..naka pag travel pa ako from cavite to laguna via SLEXsecond using A/T meron yata gusto pumatay sakin on a free way nawala talaga ang break then buti nalang nag slowdown hanap ako gaw station and nakita ko may nag luwag ng fittings

yah, with my pajero gen2.5..hehehe buti na lang nasa school campus na ko noon, i used the hand brake to stop the car...kaya ayun, after magawa binenta na..

mag downshift if possible pero dapat hinay hinay lang, then kung mabagal na i will use the handbrake.
