pwede po malaman kung bakit kailangan pahirapan ang makina by shifting at a higher rpm? hindi ba mapapaaga ang overhaul mo pag palaging ganito ang gawa mo? Experience wise kasi, I never over rev my vehicles kaya pag time na ng tune up eh hindi man lang nag-iiba ang timpla ng vehicle ko. always in good condition.

People obviously DO NOT do it during daily driving, or rather, they are not supposed to... If you run a quarter mile, at what points would you shift gears? do a track event or even just a DE, I guarantee you'll rev more... There's really nothing wrong when you high rev your car or when you stay up there while driving the track, as long as you don't hit the redline... BUT, there is a difference between trannies being worn out more in the long run...

when you reach redline anyway, the ECU cuts fuel for safety purposes.

yun lang nga, never drive faster than your angels can fly with you...or your tires to keep up with the speed.

What engine do you have on your lancer? Is it the 4g13,4g15,or 4g92.

Just noticed in your post you said you had the glxi so I am going to assume it's the 1.6L 4g92sohc. The stock specs are as follows:

    1.6L 4g92sohc
    109.5PS/108HP*6000rpm
    142Nm/105lbft*4500rpm

So based on this you get your max torque at 4500rpm and max horsepower at 6000rpm. Torque is what you need to move the car and horsepower is what you need for max speed. If you miss the redline your engine will just bounce off the rev limiter and trust me you will know when you hit the limiter.

I will just include the other engine specs in case that's what you have.

    1.3L 4g13
    75PS/74HP*6000rpm
    108Nm/80lbft*3000rpm

    1.5L 4g15
    91.3PS/90HP*6000rpm
    122Nm/90lbft*3000rpm

Ako rin, sanay sa 2000RPM na peak torque sa diesel. Kaya maintain ko na lang dito ang rev. sa aking AT diesel, during city driving.

Typically, sa mga compact/subcompact cars dito, peak torque is about 4200RPM. Pero kahit na, bandang 2500 lang, nagsi-shift na ako sa aking stick shift gasoline-fed na sasakyan.
