Edit: Say a Brad Pitt look-alike.

Hey, you never know. My wife don't mind what the guy wears so long as he looks like BP.

I wouldn't mind models with the car so long as they're knowledgeable about the car. Otherwise, either they're a hindrance or a distraction. Ok, a (pleasant) distraction mostly.

simple, women are the best sellers/endorsers on the planet, they have the looks & charms to catch a potential buyer....and since the item being sold or marketed is a car (widely-known FACT that men are more interested and fascinated with them compared to women) - that explains why.

youre absolutely right. I used to date this girl when I didnt have a car, she was frigid kasi pa-taxi taxi lang kami at minsan commute. I stopped seeing her.
I saw her the next year during a party (nabalitaan nya sa friend nya that I got a nice ride-kahit hinde naman hehe). ayon, during that party she was ALL OVER me. nagpaparinig pa na wala daw hahatid sa kanya pauwi etc etc. now thats a hoe right there.
kung hindi lang ako marpinsipyo (at kung di lang sya tumaba ng 30 lbs), e di hinatid ko sya pauwi and then some

Women & Cars: You can ride both, but only one can take you places.

Seriously, I'm against the use of beautiful, ***y women in advertising cars. C'mon, if the vehicle is really good, you won't need any girl to make it sell. While pretty ladies in attractive attire allure me, they still don't go hand-in-hand with cars. I kinda hate those tuner magazines with a bikini girl posing in front of the cars. :fire:

wow...the heat is on!... c'mon debaters!!!! well, on my side, it's how some firms attract buyers... it depends on their way of getting customers... so, there's nothing we could do about that. Let them be.

    *** sells, no doubt.

but if your product is good, why not just let it sell itself?

I agree, *** sells, it's the same reason why female tennis players wear those short skirts and female volleyball players wear those tight short shorts while their male counterparts wear more "normal" clothes

i'm over those stupid car shows. and i went to more than i count back when the scene was truly about making your car perform the best you could with your budget, trying new stuff, and just having a good time.

now, in the ricer, post-fast and the furious world, it's just stupid commercialism. people are only there to sell stupider and stupider looking stuff, and the girls are just prostituting themselves because they think this will somehow lead to a legit modeling or showbiz career.

if i want to see what's new in performance parts or cosmetic mods, i just go on the internet and look at what real enthusiasts have done with their rides.

three or four years ago, these "car shows" were done in parking lots or rented warehouses, there were hardly any sponsors and no scantily clad girls (other than the car chicks and the car guys' girlfriends).

In the old days, tuner cars were all about souping up low-priced cars and outperforming much more expensive cars. Such cars were often "sleepers" with nary a sign to indicate it's not stock. Back then, my Laser RST cost me $13,850 stock. Even adding the $5k-6k for the HKS mods, the total was still less than $20k.

A 2700lb car with 281hp + ? torque (versus 190hp/205lb-ft torque stock) for less than $20k was special. Nowadays, the magic of it all seems to have gotten lost.

I just think of my friend's Sti at ~$32k + mod to 450hp and $25k. Tuning cars are getting to be an expensive hobby.

Edit: At least I had my fill of it all while the fun lasted. Nang nag-asawa na, wala na. Naging tahimik ang buhay.....

Sigh... engine swaps... garage downtime, long hours... those rare moments when you could take your baby out at 3 am... (rare, as in rarely running. ), that was the life.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

At least I had the room to run as seen in my sig. No cops, no traffic. Delikado nga lang kapag nasiraan ka. Ikaw lang mag-isa. Walking distance from that spot to the nearest traveled road is at least a full 24 hours, assuming I can walk 7 miles in 2.5 hours. Disyerto pa. Mainit masyado sa araw at malamig sa gabi. Pag wala kang cellphone o tubig, tepok.

To clarify all these myths, it's a timeless, ***ist marketing strategy. Recognition does not require neurons, but still works like magic.
