Bosch introduces ‘total car workshop’

Robert Bosch Inc., on its 10th year in the country, has launched the Bosch Car Service Concept.


Bosch Car Service brings together everything that is needed to carry out maintenance, testing, diagnosis and repair – systems know-how, technical information, test devices, technical consulting and genuine spare parts. The concept is part of a global initiative to identify and accredit workshops and garages that could offer a one-stop shop for diagnostics and spare parts.

There are currently more than 30,000 Bosch Car Service workshops worldwide, of which a significant number operate in Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, some 65 workshops have become members of the Bosch Car Service family.

"Vehicle servicing has become more complicated and technical due to the nature of the components and systems now fitted into most new cars," said Antonio Leonardo, general manager of Robert Bosch Inc.’s Automotive Aftermarket Division.

"Many car problems can no longer be solved simply by a neighborhood mechanic and his wrench. Bosch Car Service is our response to the growing necessity for vehicle diagnostics and repair service that would match increasingly complex vehicle systems."

The number of accredited workshops more than doubled in just a year’s time from an initial 29 qualified workshops since the concept was first introduced to a pilot group in 2004.

"The response has been very overwhelming. Many workshops actually came to us to become part of the Bosch Car Service chain because of the technical support and training we provide," said Leonardo.

Bosch test equipment technology optimizes the combination of hardware and software for rapid troubleshooting, qualified repair and high time savings. Along with the testing hardware, a software package allows mechanics to carry out diagnostic tests on passenger cars regardless of the make or model.
