You have to take into consideration inflation which reflects the true value of money. In the 90s, 500k+ could buy you a TOTL Corolla, now it's not even enough to buy you an entry level Vios. In other words 500k was a significant amount in the 90s.

About living: it's not true, there are riches, middle-class and poors in the low lands and in the higher ones too. Brazilian geography is quite complex.

1993-1998 yon, but it's more popularly called the "Intercooler", the reason kung bakit wala sa mga charts is that although decent seller, it did not keep up to the sales of other "cheaper" vehicles. SUV's during the 90's are status symbols pero ngayon almost anyone can buy one and SUV sales are more high during this decade and the 21st century pero 90's mas marami sedans
