Reviewers here cannot be jeremy clarkson, bash a car and still get invited to review cars tommorow. Some need to restrain themselves somehow or totally kiss the assess of the car makers.

Basically all reviewers from TGP & AI are either boring or nervous in front of the camera.

    Locally,
TJ Pewter for me comes close to Caco.

    Global reviewers:

I like the reviewers from Paultan.org..they’re not afraid to tell the negatives of the car.

Try to watch those lady aussie reviewers from Cartell.TV. You’ll come back not for the cars.. lol

    Dito sa `Pinas? None.

    No credibility.

Those "reviews" are little better than ads, although may effort not to make it too obvious.

Thanks for this bro. I didn't even know about visor.ph until I saw your list.

I don't read or watch local car reviews often, if at all. Integrity always takes a backseat to commercial interests and it's sometimes tiring trying to discern what they are not saying. Medyo cringy pa minsan mga statements at comments especially those aimed at evoking humor. I just read the specs, watch independent youtube reviews (usually foreign) and schedule a test drive.

And of course, kibitz here at Tsikot.com. The character of the old timers and mods here are, how should I say it, an "acquired taste".

The local motoring press, however, does a good job at covering motoring issues, announcements and other things of interest. It's just that the car reviews happen to be almost always the weakest.

I agree that user-reviews are very useful, but personally I take forum inputs with a grain of salt. I always look for two things - content and credibility.

I have read through countless posts of owners that appear more like justifications of their purchase rather than an unbiased review. It's natural to "love your own" after all.

There are also a lot of posts praising their car as the best in a particular aspect (ride comfort, power, etc) without having broad experience driving the other cars in the market yet. I am more inclined to trust the review of someone who's owned and driven different cars rather than a first-time car owner who only has his car and a few test drives of others as reference. Basically - not all user reviews are credible for me.

It takes effort to sift through which posts are useful - hopefully people apply critical thinking before heeding advice here in the forum and most especially in the FB groups.

As for car reviewers - it gets really frustrating when you can get candid Clarkson-esque reviews from other countries and then find only safe, overly politically-correct reviews locally.

But I've seen the other side of the fence and the reality in the local motoring media world is that if you want to stay relevant and get invited for reviews and events, you have to be careful about ruffling feathers.

As a culture, we are far less open to straight talk than the west. Most Filipinos (and other Asians in general) would always sugarcoat negative feedback to a friend or colleague in fear of offending them. That's how it is with auto journalists and their friends in the motoring industry too.

Bottomline - when looking for car reviews, it helps to go through the entire plethora of user reviews, local auto sites, and foreign media as well. Critical thinking and reading comprehension is key to form a sound decision from these sources.

Some are doing 6 minute comprehensive video reviews now... but unfortunately some need polishing on their English.
