I have a "hand me down" pajero (mid 1990s) that I use for out of town trips. I'm kinda straddling the age transition thing because I'm not in my early 30s that's why the unusual choices. I think some of you might be able to relate.
Haven't really made up my mind yet because there's a 1month waiting list for the mazda and its making me lose interest.
Ganyan talaga pag bago. Everyone wants to have one, kaya 'di maka-cope ang supply sa initial demand. I have a ninang who was on the waiting list for six months before she got her Generation 2 CR-V.
Which of the models you're considering meets the greatest number of your criteria for a car? That makes things simpler. In my case, I've had my eye on the Vitara for the longest time, because it seemed underrated. Then I eventually realized wala siyang diesel, so I went for the Adventure instead. Tagal na kasi akong nakikisakay sa Adventure GLX ng mga would-be in-laws ko, kaya naisip ko, "hmmm, mataas, spacious, dependable engine at diesel. This one's for me!". Luckily I was able to get the newer model, since improvements had already been made.
Binata pa lang kasi ako, I wanted a big vehicle with lots of space (offshoot of me trying to cram everything into one backpack). Kaya kahit siguro hindi pa ako nag-aasawa ngayon, malamang Adventure pa rin ang kunin ko.
Bottom line is, it never hurts to have a fallback when choosing a vehicle. So kung naiinip ka na sa Mazda, I'd say go with the Honda. At least masaya ka pa rin naman sa choice mo. Advantage is, the Accord's been here longer than the Mazda3. More established, so its parts are less likely to run out of stock, IMO.

getting back to your Q afaik nakasagot na ako.
As I wrote in my previous post at the top of this page, I've got an SUV already. That's why I'm shopping for a sedan this time.
kung compact class ang pipiliin (and limited budget), and nasa Pinas ako ... then ang options ko is Mazda 3, Civic hatch (B16A but prefer B16C model), Honda Integra (B18A but prefer B18C model) or Mitsi Eclipse (ewan ko kung magkano yun dyan) ... in saying this, Civic or Integra ang kukunin ko basta Type-R model ito (B16C and B18C repectively)
kung mid size naman, Accord, Honda Prelude (H22-something ang makina), bottom line BMW or MBenz ... choice ko is the Prelude or Accord dahil lamang sa repair/maintanance costs.
kung "skys the limit" ang buget mo ...
compact: Mitsi Evo series (Evo 1- 8), Subaru Impreza WRX / STi (STi prefered, Ver 1 - 8), BMW/Mini, Subaru Forester (turbo version prefered ONLY), Subaru 22B (VERY limited!!!), BMW M3, Audi S3, Nissan Silvia (S13-S15), Mazda RX7 (rotary, series 6 - 7 turbo models)
mid size: BMW M5, MBenz CLK Kompressor, '04 Subaru Legacy GT (Gen4 model, twin scroll turbo model), '94 - '03 Subaru Legacy GT (Gen2 - Gen3 Twin turbo models), '89 Mitsi Galant VR4 (Evo 0 version!), Mitsi VR4 Galant/Legnum (2.5L-3L V6 twin turbo), Nissan Skyline series (all versions of the R32- R34. engines: RB20, RB25 turbo/non-turbo, 2wd/4wd variants ... RB26 is only for the GTR "Godzilla" model, 4wd only), Nissan Stegea (wagon version of the Skyline, same specs/variants as Skyline including a GTR version!), Audi S4, Mazda RX8
and, for the ultimate Stealth Fighter / Bomber :D: ... Mitsi Evolution Pajero (350hp, V6 Turbo, Short Wheel Base only, Paris-Dakar rally version) or Audi RS4 / RS6 (A4 and A6 body shells respectively, twin turbo versions)
