    Big news.

I just sold my 350 SL to buy a 1970 CUDA. I have a 426 Hemi angine coming. This will be fun. Another car I hope that will come by the end of the month is a 69 RT Charger. The same car as General LEE ans Vin Diesel's Fast and Furious.

I just acquired a 1967 Pontiac LEMANS Convertible(same as the XXX GTO, but a convertible is rarer), but was sold a day after I bought it.

Same thing happened to my 69 RS Camaro, a first owner car that is almost in original condition. It was grabbed the moment I parked it.

An update to Eleanor 2, the superharger is already installed and the car might be ready and running by years end.

Time to buy MUSCLE Car guys. its fun!!!

Coolness. :jump: I just stumbled upon this thread... a gathering of like minds?

After six years or so in the backburner Ive finally started work on my '69 Cougar. So far its been stripped bare and the body work is done, only a bit of massaging here and there and then primer.
Two questions for you sirs, but first the scenario: I have an ae92 for the days and a '72 Corona Mk2 for the nights. Although these are ongoing projects, they are reliable runners. The rolla i converted to automatic but will run a 4ag soon and the mk2 has a strong 2t but is waiting for an inline six, hopefully from a supra. Theres no doubt theyll fit the gofast bill, and i dont need a thirsty v8 to add to that. So, (1) Is it alright that i pulled the 351windsor and set it aside while i use another six from a landcruiser or is it sacrilege? and (2) Is it ok that i chop the top off to make a 'vert? The plans for the Cat are for the show circuit and nothing else. Everyone thinks im losing my mind. What say you?

Since the cougar will be for the show circuit only, I suggest that you retain the 351W engine. It aint a daily drive anyways. Besides, if its for show, its better to show the real deal - especially under the hood. Btw, are you willing to sell your 351W? I might be interested.

Well, youre right about leaving the eight in if its not gonna be a daily driver anyway. But the thing is, the 351 needs to be rebuilt and i was thinking if i had to wait for that, then the car is gonna sleep for another year or two ontop of the six forgone. Also, since i'd be rebuilding it, blueprinting would be in order and i could plonk it into a Cortina for a funny car project ive always dreamt of...
Unless i find a working 289 then ill go for a six, so i guess that that. (I just had to ask.)

And I just have an affinity for straight sixes thats why.

    But about the top?

HEY TURBO, you did buy the Le Mans Covertible and the Camaro RS Damn, the speed of the acquisition and disposal sure beats the buying/selling of corporate stocks at the PSE!!!

Sorry I was not in the position to buy the Le Mans Conv. (to be cloned into a Pontiac GTO Convertible) coz I have to pay my remaining balance to Mang Radie. Besides, I also have to partially settle my bro-in-law for the Edelbrock Aluminum Heads assembly.

The remaining parts of my 'stang already arrived from the U.S.: cylinder heads, hi-amp alternator, hi-torque starter, 9mm spark plug wires, and sub-frame chassis connectors.

I hope to be able to finish the 'stang by September though. By then, I might be in a better position to look for another project.

    Turbo,

Im just wondering where do you find these classic beauties. I read classified ads and I rarely come across someone selling muscle cars.

Hmm... Im just curious for how much did you sell the Camaro RS? A ballpark figure will do if you dont want to reveal the actual sale price.

    Hi Sir Woodfire,

The Lemans is still in my garage, where I am putting back a 400(6.6 liter) PONTIAC engine back in place of a Toyota 5R(sacrilage). While at it, I am putting a set of front disc from a Nova and a Saginaw steering box. The new owner wants it in prestine condition so he will have it fully restored.
Yeah, after parking it in my garage, it was sold less than 24 hrs. I woul have not sold it if I only have the money!

The same is true with the one owner RS Camaro, I brought it home at 10am and was sold at 4pm. Talking about supply and demand, those Muscle Cars are fast going.

Lucky you, Sir Woodfire, wala nang 67 Convertible. Yung SL ko ang dami, kaya I bit the bullet and sold it to buy Mang Radie's 69 MACH1, di pa kinukuha ng bumili. Sana pumayag si Mang Radie.

As for the Cuda, baka 4 na lang sa Philippines.

greasemonkey, i'm not sure i'd call it sacrilege, but if you show up at a concours or a hot rod show with a toyota engine in a classic cougar you will be laughed right out of the building ;)

a vert conversion is an expensive project, and a bit difficult to do right, but can basically win you car shows right there (i'm not sure if the cougar even came in a ragtop from the factory). it all depends on what you envision the car to look like when you're done.

if i had to set a priority though, i would rebuild the v8 before i cut the roof. since it's a show car i would focus on the 'pretty' bits like chrome engine parts, headers, maybe even a blower. good luck and have fun!

greasemonkey, rebuilding the 351W should not really take that long. sayang if you plunk down a jap engine in a muscle car like your cuda.

I know the 351W engine to be very reliable. Those who rebuilt it just changed the gaskets, and installed hardened valve seats in the cylinder heads. The stock crank, rods, and pistons are bullet proof. If at all, there are a lot of available overhauling kits in the U.S.

while you're at it, there are a lot of available stroker kits for the 351W and a multipoint injection EFI (if you're gonna use it as a daily drive) from Edelbrock.

btw, converting your cuda into a "convertible"can be done but would be expensive. you can take some cues from our resident muscle car guru- "TURBO." The thing is, it would take a fair amount of time strengthening the chassis by installing a tubular support frame all around.

Deo a.k.a. Turbo may be able to help you source a 289 V8 engine.
