daming muscle cars, some of which are under-appreciated!!!

The three big bad daddies are the Pontiac GTO, early generation '65-'66 Shelby Mustang GT350, and the Hemi Cuuuuuuda!

My dream project is to be able to buy a 1965 or 1966 2+2 Mustang Fastback and later convert/clone it into an early generation Shelby GT350 R version with all the performance mods needed. Because of the task involved, it would take me at least a couple of years to finish it, hehehe!

Btw, I did not include corvette in the big 3 bcoz I personally consider it more of a sports car. Besides, very limited ang yearly production runs ng mga corvettes. Si Turbo, may screaming yellow 70s era corvette!!!

woodfire: Any idea on how much Rad Rides would charge for a restoration project? curious lang ako hehehe. My friend told me that compared to other restoration shops, Rad Rides by Troy charges less.

Foose Designs charges USD 50thousand for a custom one-of-a-kind design according to an article in Hemmings News. So, $50thousand a pop only for a design.

I dunno about rad rides but a well known restomod shop in Ventura California charged a customer to restore/modify a '69 429 Boss USD 25thousand including the parts. The parts include a stroked Ford Racing crate engine, cooling system, suspension, Vortech Supercharger, Ford Racing T-5 manual tranny, and a Detroit Locker rear 9" differential with 3.5 axle ratio. They painted the car bright silver with black (w/gold dust) Boss stripes. They shoved an 18" custom polished aluminum wheels. This car was dynoed at 385hp to the wheels and almost same amount of torque. I reckon, the crank hp would be about 450 horses.

Guys, mura lang ang Muscle car.

The best starting point will be a 65-69 Mustang coupe. Price ranges from a mere 50k to 120k. You get the V8s. From there, you can learn to set up cars and restore them. Parts are plentiful. Increase in power is easy and much cheaper to obtain compred to Japanese cars.

Form this selection, you can move up to the Fastbacks, the 1st generation Camaros, the Mopars, Trans Ams. And start getting the BIG BLOCKS.

The BIG BLOCKS are for Chevy the Mark IV Series(396-454 stock displacement), for Ford the FE Series(390-428) and 385 Series(429-460) and the for MOPAR the 440 and the MIGHTY 426 HEMI.

Just experience the ego trip of this Monster. I have some, and they make me smile even if they are only parked in my garage(next to each other).

I thought it will cost you fortune to restore a muscle car little less than a million

depende. If along the way you decide to put more muscle in the muscle, you've got to pay the price. Its easier to pile up power in a V8 compared to the Jap or Euro engine. Even w/o stroking the engine, you can shove aftermarket heads, cams, lifters, roller rockers, induction system (carbs &filters), headers & exhaust, etc...

Phenomena of rising expectations! Iyan si Turbo, magaling magbuyo ng pagbili ng aftermarket parts, hehehe!

condition na yon. pwede na gamitin.

Ang kinamamahal kasi, yung mga PURIST, kahit turnilyo dpat orig.

Ako kasi more on the restomod, basta maganda and V8, ok na. Ofcourse dapat di malayo sa original.

Take for example my latest car.

1981 Trans Am Special edition. The body has been prepared by the previous owner, its all primered-up and ready for a repainting. The motor has just been overhauled, it was deliverd to me running.

    Things to be done:
    1. Repainting
    2. Removal of the engine for engine repainting and deatailing.
    3. Reupholstery(Seats are original RECAROs)
    4. New set of tail light.
    5. new carpet.
    6. new tires.
    7. New graphics(the FIREBIRD LOGO on the hood)

Roughly 150k-200k including th initial cost of the car.

So for 200k you will have a TTOP(Glass top) Trans Am that will be a very good collectors car since it was the last of the Line(Special Edition at that).

My 74 Camaro is finished and it did not cost me over 180K. and so on.

By the way, STAY AWAY from EUROPEAN restoration, this will kill you, talking from experience.
