TOPLANDER - FOTON
Most wear and tear items/parts will always be replaced. Bushings ball joints etc. Not sure what you mean by body build. Its just a ladder frame based suv.
Anyways an australian fb group has been formed because of some issues with their foton purchase.
As said their price is not competitive. Isuzu mux manual tranny is better than this.
Wow... Foton is really spending an ads for the Toplander...

This might help chief!
The 4x4 Variant looks promising. *StockEngine. The body build that I mean, is the quality of manufacture of body on the top of the ladder frame and the quality of accessories inside the cabin.
I was trying to create a new thread but unfortunately, It keeps on getting an error so I'll just post it here:
Good day Fellow Tsikoteers,
I wanted to start this thread for those who owns the Foton's newest SUV (As if merong old) the Toplander. Hopefully, the thread will have a healthy conversation given the current "political" situation that the Country is in now.
I recently purchased their base model 4X2. I was a previous Foton owner already (Foton Blizzard 4x2 NA). And to me, this is a huge leap from my previous ride. The pickup lasted 5 years until I've decided to sell it.
My comment with the Blizzard was it lacks the power that I need, the noise that I hear and the comfort on my ride. When I sold it, I looked at other options and the nearest that came close was Isuzu's MUX 2.5. I almost got the MUX as they both was approved by my bank, but the considering factor was the equal amortization that was offered to me. With Isuzu, I'll be paying it for 5 years wherein with the Toplander it's just 3 years. Practicality wise I went with the latter.
So far, I am on my 1400KM and as I've said, it was a huge leap from my Blizzard. I was able to drive it from Manila to Quezon and the response of the engine was awesome. Fastest speed that I had was only 120KM/H as I was still on the break-in period but from the way it handles, I can push more. Startoll's bumpy road was comfortable. My 4 passenger was sound asleep as I speed up and they never complain about when we took some roads that are under construction. Cooling system was also good, but compared to my Blizzard, this one seems to take the heat from the hot weather a little hard (My blizzard has a better AC setup probably because the cabin is smaller). Stock sound system sucks big time, "tunog-lata" as they say it but given the right budget, this will definitely be fixed.
One concern that I am complaining about my unit was the Fuel Consumption. As I did my Internet research, I am seeing majority saying that the usual consumption of this unit was around 10-12KM on City driving, and 13-15KM on long drives. Even Topgear's DOE review, the Toplander 4X2 FC was clocked in at 16+KM/L. Mine was pretty bad, I was averaging 8KM/L. The computation was overall, it includes my Quezon trip (400KM total) with a mix of two Cavite trips (320KM total) and the rest are City driving. I've already filled up 3.5 full tanks. The AFC that is registering on my dashboard is consistent at 14.7L/100KM.
And reading the Thunder threads (since it's the closest similar vehicle based on engine), their FCs are about 10-12KM/L, compared to mine which is fairly brand new.
To those who owns the Toplander, what are your experiences with you unit? What is your FC?
10-12km/l nga ang average ng thunder/tunland ng owners sa au.
Dont believe doe numbers...
The locally manufactured fotons are questionable... i suggest you change your oil.

Thanks for the reply sir StockEngine. I already had my 1st PMS which was after my Quezon trip (1100KM). The casa told me that my computation was not correct, it should be in a controlled environment, traffic has to be factored in, etc. Also they told me that I should observe it since its a fairly new vehicle and it will still adjust, however I don't want to argue with someone who seems to not know what he's doing so I just let it go and follow what they advised. Though I am not really familiar with vehicles that are ECU/ECM driven as my previous cars are either carbureted or Injected but no ECU.
As agreed sa casa, after my PMS I immediately had my gas filled up to full tank and recorded the km trip (1220KM). Once it goes empty, they asked me to go back and see what was the actual consumption. I am now at my 1440KM (about 220KM since my full tank) and I am already pass by the 1/2 tank marker. I guess the built-in computation at the dashboard is somehow accurate (Average Fuel Consumption * 15.1L/100KM).
Is there a shop that can check whether my vehicle is running rich in fuel? I feel that it is blowing too much diesel even if I step very light on the pedal.
I forgot to factor in our heavy almost non moving traffic. The traffic in au is very light compared to our extremely high density traffic.
Which city are you from? Also what is the average speed on your vehicle?
Sitting in traffic really increases fuel consumption...

I'm from Marikina and work at McKinley Hill. I work Graveyard shift so usually I don't experience traffic on my way to work and going home, I sometimes experience it. I understand that traffic consumes a lot, but based on my old pickup which has an old 2.8L 4JB1 engine, my fuel consumption is around 9.5KM/L same driving condition (Been driving it for 5 years). I never was heavy on the pedal, I seldom hit 100KM when the road is clear (Usually its 80KM) and I shift before I hit 2K RPM. This one is really exaggerated, my 70L only lasted me for about 420KM on the trip odometer.
Another thing that I noticed is that every time I hit the pedal to accelerate, whether its a very light tap, the IFC meter (Instant Fuel Consumption) goes crazy-high to about a range of 22-34L/100KM. I don't think that is normal which is why I wanted to have a second opinion outside the casa and have them measure my STFT and LTFT (Short Term and Long Term Fuel Trims).
70l and 420km lng.
Thats defective bro. Start complaining. Hope the lemon law helps if they cant fix it.
Maybe because it is still in break in period. My non Foton SUV started to have decent FC only after it hits 5k km mark and got better after 10k km.

I already raised the concern to them, kaso they keep on telling me to observe it, observe it, it will adjust, it will normalize... If only there is a shop that can verify that the specs of the ECU/ECM is correct, then I would probably have a peace of mind and follow their advise of observing.
Pero baka nga tama rin sila similar to what sir "boytsiks" mentioned na after his 5KM saka lang nagkaroon ng decent fuel consumption and nag normalize after 10KM, kaso parang medyo matagal for me to wait for it until maka 10K ako and i-consider na nila as error in my driving or worst sabihin sa akin "dapat nag reklamo po kayo nung bago pa lang yung sasakyan"....
Sir "boytsiks", ano po pala yung SUV nyo?
