this was one of my original concerns when we crossed the river in our first lahar run. I was more concerned with my turbo, which i think runs hotter. After going though lahar at highway speeds, i was really freaked out that we had to cross the stream. turns out, kaya naman pala.

Yup, some water did got in, but only the ridges of my carpet got wet. When the trail was finished, it was dry again. I can really say that the snorkel did what it was meant for.

hybrid,
Never talaga. Hindi ka naman mamamatayan when fording in low range, eh. Kahit ibagsak mo ng todo ang revs. Unnerving at first pero you'll get the hang of it.
Kapag nabasa clutch mo midstream baka hindi ka na makaakyat sa other end. Nakupow. hehehe.

April 1st, 2003 11:50 PM #25Otep,
I just figured it out today, I tried it out in 1 of the lots near our place. Iniisip ko kasi bakit kung pano ko bibitawan yung clutch at a low speed (para hindi masunog  )
I tried shifting my 4wd then I discovered I can drive real slow sa 4Low, yung pala yung purpose nun.
Lagi ko sigurong press halfway yung clutch while doing the obstacle 8O hindi actually napapansin kasi masyadong excited.
Boy2,
Binalik-balikan ko nga e, para tingnan :D

That's a BIG no no on driving offroad. Never play with your clutches while traversing obstacles unless you will only come to a complete stop.

Masusunog lang clutch disc mo. Much worse scenario kung submerged under water ang clutch assembly, papasukan ng tubig mga internal parts. Better to have the oils checked if there is water contamination.

April 2nd, 2003 04:29 PM #29ungas,
we did not go deep into the waters, mud lang actually, nung nangamoy clutch ko dry land naman.
to think I always regulate speed using clutch kung baha dun sa 4 dr sedan ko, kasi you need to keep the revs up para hindi pumasok sa tambutso, buti nalang wala pang damage
