June 15th, 2012 12:39 AM #52The Ford Focus' Ecoboost 1.0 3-cyl engine has just won the International Engine of the Year 2012. Any chance that a variant equipped with the said engine be sold here?

Not at the moment, but here's an article that has some info...
Herrmann also confirmed that, by 2015, the 1.0-litre Ecoboost will have entirely replaced Fordís normally aspirated 1.6-litre, four-cylinder motors in most regions of the world.

For now, the ASEAN Focus will be offered with two engines, a 125PS 1.6 Ti-VCT and a 170PS 2.0 Ti-VCT GDi.
PS: The 1.0 EcoBoost is also expected to appear in the new 2013 EcoSport (Fiesta-based crossover), lets see if the ASEAN version will get it too.Last edited by AG4; June 15th, 2012 at 01:32 AM.

Here's an article from Philippine Star...
Manila, Philippines - Ford Philippines is expected to introduce two more new models in July to strengthen its presence in the local market.
In a statement released late Friday, Ford Philippines said it would launch the all-new Focus and the Mustang sports car in July, with customer deliveries starting in September.

June 15th, 2012 09:17 AM #56Thanks AG4! That was a very interesting write up. Wow...177hp from a 1.0L with only 3 cyl...unang iisipin ay di kaya overboosted ito? or di kaya over stressed ang engine?
As for the the soon-to-be-available variants, kung bibili man ako, i would definitely go for the 2.0. Its exciting to imagine that the 170 hp output of the GDI 2.0 engine + its sharp handling = fun (or even very fun). But i hope this variant will not be as nose heavy as the TDCI mk2.5 focus.
I'm not sure but i got the feeling that the focus body is too heavy to be hauled by a 1.6 n/a engine. Is this 1.6Ti-VCT similiar to the one onboard the top of the line current fiesta?

That's when customer deliveries arrive, but I think prior to that (July to August period?), people should be able to see and check out the car.
I'm just not sure what Ford has planned, if they will tour the car in different showrooms or have an event.
One reply I got though was they might not be at this year's Philippine International Motor Show (August).
