The compression ratio of the 170PS (168hp) 2.0 Ti-VCT GDi engine is 12:1.

    The local spec 162hp (164PS) CX-5 SKYACTIV has a 14:1 compression ratio, for the USDM models its 13:1 (155hp CX-5 SKYACTIV) AND 12:1 (155hp Mazda 3 SKYACTIV)

The local spec 2012 Mazda 3 2.0 does not use a SKYACTIV engine, it uses the old 145hp 2.0 MZR engine, but it gets a new 5-speed AT.

They're most likely using photos of the Euro version.

Diesels have always been part of the Focus lineup, it's important if you want to survive in the european market.
The big question is when will it be available in the ASEAN model. So far only 2 engines have been announced during its ASEAN debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show, both are petrol (gasoline).
PS: Some photos in the gallery are old and have been used in Europe.

I guess the main difference is Ford added a more features to justify the price increase of their high-end Focus variants over the previous generation.

*eido, was that a Sport or Sport+? The "+" models get even more features like "Active Park Assist".

I checked the specs, the info appears to be from the USDM model where the Active Park Assist is a $695 option.
For the local market (according to the local Ford website), its standard on the top "+" models.

(3rd party dealer?)Horizon car sales' estimated prices are not always accurate, guess its better to wait for Ford's announcement.

The Ford Focus' Ecoboost 1.0 3-cyl engine has just won the International Engine of the Year 2012. Any chance that a variant equipped with the said engine be sold here?

Not at the moment, but here's an article that has some info...
Herrmann also confirmed that, by 2015, the 1.0-litre Ecoboost will have entirely replaced Fordís normally aspirated 1.6-litre, four-cylinder motors in most regions of the world.
I'm not sure though if "ASEAN" is part of the "most regions of the world" mentioned.

For now, the ASEAN Focus will be offered with two engines, a 125PS 1.6 Ti-VCT and a 170PS 2.0 Ti-VCT GDi.

PS: The 1.0 EcoBoost is also expected to appear in the new 2013 EcoSport (Fiesta-based crossover), lets see if the ASEAN version will get it too.

Here's an article from Philippine Star...
Manila, Philippines - Ford Philippines is expected to introduce two more new models in July to strengthen its presence in the local market.

In a statement released late Friday, Ford Philippines said it would launch the all-new Focus and the Mustang sports car in July, with customer deliveries starting in September.

Thanks AG4! That was a very interesting write up. Wow...177hp from a 1.0L with only 3 cyl...unang iisipin ay di kaya overboosted ito? or di kaya over stressed ang engine?

As for the the soon-to-be-available variants, kung bibili man ako, i would definitely go for the 2.0. Its exciting to imagine that the 170 hp output of the GDI 2.0 engine + its sharp handling = fun (or even very fun). But i hope this variant will not be as nose heavy as the TDCI mk2.5 focus.

I'm not sure but i got the feeling that the focus body is too heavy to be hauled by a 1.6 n/a engine. Is this 1.6Ti-VCT similiar to the one onboard the top of the line current fiesta?

That's when customer deliveries arrive, but I think prior to that (July to August period?), people should be able to see and check out the car.
I'm just not sure what Ford has planned, if they will tour the car in different showrooms or have an event.
One reply I got though was they might not be at this year's Philippine International Motor Show (August).

ang galing galing naman ng Ford talaga with this ecoboost. this is truly revolutionary di katulad ng ginagawa ni CRV and Hyundai. i heard Mazda's skyactive is good also.
