    Hello,

Aside from the Transmission shift problem and the Cracking Windshield are there any other known issues with the Fiesta? There is no consolidated Fiesta Issues thread yet so I thought I'd ask...

Is this with all Fiestas? Have you had it checked?

Outside of the CASA is there a place that can repair or service the Dual Clutch system? I'm just thinking about after the warranty period, how much and where would we bring transmission issues. Im assuming that bringing it to the CASA would be very pricey indeed.

One of the reasons I opted for the MT. Less things to go wrong.

The Dual Clutch system is basically a manual clutch being controlled by a computer.

Traditional automatic transmissions are basically "dumb" devices that shift up or down based on certain conditions.

The advantage of being computer controlled, performance improves once new software is loaded into the computer. For example, in coming models, one can give his teenage son a special key that the computer detects. Since the computer controls everything, the teenage son cannot go beyond say for example 60KPH.

Traditional transmission have none of these.

With these in view, this system should be simpler mechanically but more complex on the computer side. Now being simpler, those Ford experts in traditional automatic transmissions should find it easier to fix it mechanically.

interesting view... hopefully in 5 years dual clutch becomes as easy to bring to the neighborhood talyer as a normal automatic. Even on the internet i have not seen any stories of repairing the fiesta transmission, they all just say it was replaced.

I don't know if all Fiesta cars have it... I remember reading about others complaining about the same sound coming from underneath the car... which in my perception, the sound is coming from the back part of the car. I did asked and had it checked during the time I still own my Fiesta from Ford Global... they said all is fine... but the sound whenever I drove over uneven roads still persisted... time came I had to move to CDO due to work... I like my Fiesta, but it won't survive the travel from CDO to Bukidnon back and forth most of the time... so I had to sell it and got my self a 4x4 instead.

My advise for new Fiesta Buyers... test drive the car and listen to the back part as you go over uneven paved roads... you will notice the sound I am referring to immediately, otherwise, the NVH is excellent on even paved roads.

I discourage you in buying one if resale value is a major consideration.

We bought ours for the safety, comfort, fuel economy and most of all style.

ang ayoko lang sa fiesta is yung sa ilalim the mud guard... kasi parang deform sya parang nadis aligned.... further more ang masasabi ko lang sa lahat ng problems is nasa pag gamit lang at nasa gumagamit kung sa kagaya ko namang napaka selan sa sasakyan at minamaneho ko sa tamang lugar sa tamang oras ng pag birada ng kotse eh siguro naman di mo maeexperience na masira ang sasakyan mo... ungatan at mahalin lang natin ang fofi natin para iwas aberya.. like i said :nasa gumagamit lang yan!"

After nearly 13 months of ownership, here are some of my observations:

    - Had issue with engine warning lights. Apparently, it's the wiring harness at fault, though we had to troubleshoot our way of several major components (transmission control, cpu, among others). Took nearly 2 months to sort out

    - I still observe funky revs when climbing out of hills -- ang taas ng RPM even on slight inclines, with your KM/L going up as high as 30-40 at times, for about 100 meters. No big, seems to be a normal thing

    - Mababa ang car :P coming from the Everest, the damn car seems to like scraping it's front chin (buti nalang yung bakal portion) against anything higher than a 2 inch bump on the road

    - I can hear something thucking (ewan ko paano i describe yung sound) right behind my steering wheel. It seems that a wire is loose. This only happened after they sorted out my car

    - I can hear squeaking noises when I'm using the steering wheel at rest or at low speed. Will have this looked into

    - I still experience occassional weirdness when it comes to the engine revving. The last time, it was just fluctuationg wildly from 2k to 3k for no apparent reason (acceleration was normal, 10-20 km/h). Had to stop the car, turn it off then turn it back on to clear the strangeness

    - Mileage is mediocre, at best. Strange thing is, I'd have good weeks (nearly 11km/l) then the week that folllows would be bad (barely 10km/l). I don't know if it's a personal problem or the car's cpu compensating. Everything else, from type of fuel to the actual fuel pump to driving conditions/destinations were pretty much consistent

    - Noticed that my coolant reservoir was below minimum (way below) and car's fan was humming for nearly a minute after shutdown. Not sure how the coolant went below that level (last check up was probably 3-4 months prior). After topping it off with coolant, the problem did not recur

    Dealer experience:
    - My main dealer experiences lie with Ford Libis and Ford San Fernando (where I got the car). I'd have to say that Ford Libis, while not utterly abysmal, is just a c*nt hair above. The only time they really contact you is when they think they're going to have a sale (like a 20k checkup). I suppose the only good thing about them is that they actually pick up the phone, unlike Commonwealth or Balintawak (I might've gotten an older number on the latter two though)
    - Unfortunately, given the above experience, I tend to distrust the specific dealer, and probably the brand as a whole. This isn't particularly bad as this seems to be the normal service levels to expect from non premium brands. Have you guys had better luck with your non-premium purchases (read as, something that doesnt cost over a million, nearing the two million mark. I suppose buying a Mustang, should it ever appear in our shores, would warrant better service levels as opposed to our humble econo-cars)
    - Ford calls you from Singapore to verify that you've gotten the proper level of service. I suppose this means that they're concerned over user experience. By the time they call though, you're at the state of mind where you'd say anything just to get them off the phone (they usually psychically determine that your'e driving, that's when they usually call :D).

If I had to do it again, I'm thinking I should've just gotten a pick up, or something that wasn't a first/second year model of that particular car. I just hate having to deal with bugs on a car.

I'll be posting on the fuel consumption page for a detailed report on fuel consumption.
