That shares mechanicals with a Mazda truck. It is a Mazda designed truck after all. Parts shouldn't be that pricey.

Parts for American-made Fords are harder to source, though not really more costly (For example, a MAF for a Triton V8 isn't much more than a MAF for a japanese car)... whereas parts for Asian Fords, which have a lot in common with Mazdas... are not hard to get.

You should be informed they are closely associated with Mazdas. The Ranger is a modern/updated version of the 90s B2200/B2500s pickups. The Escape, Lynx, Ranger, Everest are originally designed by Mazda; therefore, they also have versions of these vehicles.

Not just tough, it's also one of the safest pickups in its class.
"The Ranger was the first pickup to score a maximum five-star rating from Euro NCAP – a seismic improvement over its predecessor, which only achieved two stars. The new model also scored 81 per cent for pedestrian impact protection, which is the highest for a pickup so far."
    - Ford Ranger Review | Autocar

The new Ranger has an 800mm (31.5in) water wading capability.
