Hey guys, I have a question, with news regarding that Chrysler & GM (General Motors) are going bankruptcy, could there be a probability of having Ford Motor Company bankrupt as well? I mean this automaker was belong to the big three right? Is there any chance of being bankrupt?

actually i'm quite optimistic about Fords future....
tulad ng sinabi ng prev. reply. they didn't avail of the Feds bail-out plan.
and Ford's Product offering is in their most competitive stage yet....

Ford Fusion Hybrid has bested that of Toyota's Camry Hybrid....
they have so many other new technologies lined up...like the EcoBoost.
they have almost full completed replacing their trannys in the US with the fuel saving 6speed A/T. even ahead of Honda's offering....
may high-power Ford Focus featuring 2.0li TDCi hovering around 200hp.

Sadly, it's true. It's been in many International major news programs for the past months na. The big 3 US automakers. Mahirap rin dun sa sinabi nilang Ford Focus TDCi is that if you've ever been to the US you'll notice that there's rarely a gas station that carries diesel. Even if they have hybrid vehicles, the fact that they're officially tagged as an unstable company eh how will the masses think of investing their hard earned cash for a Ford Hybrid compared to a Honda/Toyota Hybrid? Or even the Ecoboost technology? They barely have enough cash to survive eh ngayon pa sila maghahabol sa mga competitors nila who have already these features in their vehicles years ago. That's the same reason why Daimler separated from Chrysler kasi alam ng Daimler(Benz) na mas versatile/flexible yung fleet line-up nila kaysa sa Chrysler.

Besides, with all the new "innovations" Ford has come up, you'll have to forecast the production costs, and how will they sell their other models to at least have increased revenue? It's a very dangerous gamble. Today, their stock index is -1.31%. Akala natin maliit lang yan kasi -1.31 lang kaso nga in the stock market eh .10% nga lang ang laking loss na yun eh papaano pa ang -1.31? And the highest Index chart reading is only up to 6.5.

"After billionaire Kirk Kerkorian sold off his holdings, Ford's prospects just got grimmer. Kerkorian bought a 7% stake in Ford back in May last year for $6.50 a share, and the stock dropped to $2 now, so he lost a few billion dollars.
Ford has enough cash on-hand to last through the end of 2009, at their current burn rate of $1 billion a month. If things don't get better by then and they don't get a Federal Government bailout, they are done for."

But they are not in good shape either certainly if compared to the Japanese and European makers. They are just hanging in there, but they are also loosing a lot of money.

yep Ford is still losing money

Ford probably will gain market share

car buyers would avoid GM and Chrysler if they will have servicing/warranty and parts problems

GM and Chrysler are reducing a large number of dealerships

Lets put it this way if the car market does not improve in let's say 2 years time then Ford will also go in GM and Chrysler's route...

    yep

automakers (US or foreign) will not be selling cars like they did during the boom years

lenders will no longer just give anyone a car loan (tighter lending standards)

new cars won't be leaving the dealership car lots as fast as before

the automakers better get used to it
