    The Ford Mustang is coming

There seems to be enough public clamor for the Ford Mustang to be sold locally--and officially--by Ford Philippines. Here's a bit of good news to start off your week: the American carmaker is finally bringing the modern descendant of the pony car class' progenitor to the market.

A source familiar with Ford Group Philippines' future lineup--and who refuses to be named--revealed that the Mustang is finally coming to the showrooms sometime next year.
Although the source couldn't give a time frame as to when in 2012 will the Mustang be offered in the Philippines, the source did say that it'll be "much, much more affordable" than the Chevrolet Camaro.

They were teasing about it last year.

With what they've done with the Explorer, it's possible they might actually be able to bring it in at just 2m to 2.5m.

A 2 million peso stripper V6? Do want.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

At P2M I would definitely get this over a Genesis Coupe... Iba pa rin ang Mustang, may history and culture...

+100, kaso bakit nga wala pa yan? Nauna pa Explorer, pero much saleable siguro ito kaya ganun.

You know the P2.35M Explorer Limited 4WD starts at $39,740 in the US.

    Mustang V6: starts at $22,310
Mustang V6 Premium starts at $26,310
    Mustang GT starts at $29,310
Mustang GT Premium starts at $33,310

Well pricing might not be as low as the Explorer (dollar to peso price) when its lower volume, but i'm sure it will still be low.

    My guess...
    Mustang V6 Premium P1.9M - P2.1M?
    Mustang GT Premium P2.4M - P2.6M?

I'm actually wondering how they did it... SKD? They put on the wheels and tires here? Or did Ford global start using clearing houses like other makers?

A Mustang at under 2m would be fantastic... a V6 with a stick would be all the Sports GT anyone needs here in the Philippines.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

If i'm looking for performance i'd still take the genesis over the mustang v6, the v6 is such a disappointment when it comes to performance but the GT is a total monster.

Considering that the base Mustang retails for $24,000 in the US, which is at par with the base Gen Coupe, then Ford Philippines would do well to introduce the Mustang here at a base price of 1.5M. Toyota 86 pricing has been revealed at 1.5M for the manual base and 1.8M for the top line spec. This is is the same level as the Gen Coupe. Ford Phils cannot say that the Mustang will be more expensive since it will be taxed since it is a full import, since the 86 and the twin BRZ are also considered full imports (on that note, so is the Gen Coupe). The PHL has no special trade agreement with Japan, US, or Korea like what we have in the ASEAN, hence with this line of thinking, the Mustang should be priced at 1.5M for the V6 and around 2M for the V8, and maybe 2.5M for the V8 BOSS.

eggman is right, the Camaro is priced very wrongly. The base Camaro in the US is only US$25,000 retail, which converted is only 1.1M at 44:1. Even with 100% tax, it shouldn't be over 2.2M.

The 2 models considered for the Philippines is the V6 and the V8 GT, so far no mention on the Boss 302 or GT500.
For those who were to the MIAS on the first day, I heard that they had a survey for the pricing of the soon to be launched Mustang.
Pricing options for the V6 starts at P2M and up while the pricing options for the V8 starts somewhere under P3M and up.

Another thing to consider is since it will be a lower volume import, even if it should be cheaper than an Explorer, it might cost the same or more.
One thing we know is Ford said they will price it much lower than the equivalent Camaro.

^Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ are powered by the same 2.0 li power plant, which I believe is not subjected to JPEPA. Only engine displacements above 3.0 li are eligible for tax breaks (3.0li and below not included).

Ang mura naman ng V8 kung P2M lang? Pag V8 yan na ba yung Shelby model or GT lang? Yung Mustang ng kuya ko 2007 model pa I think Shelby yun, cost at least 2.5-3M na when it was bought 4 years ago.
