February 1st, 2009 10:10 AM #1Is the 2009 Ford Focus worth it? Particularly the 2.0 Ghia and the 2.0 Sport hatchback (these are not the TDCI M/T variants)? May I request owners of these vehicles to post details about fuel efficiency, comfort, performance, etc.?
Also, saan ba ang dealer na malakas magdiscount, at maganda ang service? Yung Focus kase, around 999,000 ang presyo, iniisip ko kase kung pwede akong makakuha ng discount, kahit around 10%? Or baka may mairecommend kayong agent.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not so sure about the gasoline models. But the TDCI is certainly very good value for money. My son in law has one and he certainly enjoyed it. We left a lot of cars behind during our SCTEX runs.

Whats wrong with the dual-clutch PowerShift?
The dual-clutch Powershift offers the convenience and ease of a traditional automatic, but has the performance and fuel economy of a manual.
For those wondering... the shifter of the Focus TDCi Powershift is the same as the shifter of the gasoline A/T Focus models.

February 3rd, 2009 07:10 AM #6I am sorry I am not familiar with the dual clutch in powershift. I was talking about dual clutch in older cars and some new race cars wherein you have to press the clutch twice to change gears. In other words, more work than the traditional M/T. But it was called double clutch. So now, I am thinking they are not the same.
Actually, the Powershift is over my budget. I am thinking of getting only the Trand M/T or the 5 door Trend A/T (around 700++ to 850++). My problem is they dont have airbag for passenger. You have idea what.s the best dealer to go to, and how to get discounts on price? And how much it would cost to install another airbag.

What you're talking about is the old "non-synchomesh transmission" where the method used for shifting gears is called "double declutch" or "double clutch".
The Dual-Clutch Powershift of Ford is one of the most advanced type of semi-automatic transmissions out there in the market now.
By the way, the dual-clutch Powershift has no clutch pedal.
Powershift
Jointly developed by Ford and transmission specialists GETRAG, the gearbox consists of two layshaft transmissions working in parallel, each with its own wet clutch unit. Thanks to the layout of the intermediate shafts – one carrying the 'uneven' gears 1, 3 and 5, while the other one 'even' gears 2, 4 and 6 – the next gear change can be prepared by pre-selection whilst in motion and at full power.
As a result, in this configuration, the average fuel consumption improves by around 10 per cent, and CO2 emissions will be lower, compared to a conventional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission
I don't know if you can have one installed.
Dual-Airbags start with the P989K 2.0 liter Ghia, this model is actually very well equipped considering its sub-P1M price.Last edited by AG4; February 3rd, 2009 at 08:34 AM.

Sir denis sulit po talaga yung focus tdci, there's so much low rpm torque, which you cannot experience in any other models it its class. once magkick in na yung turbo, feeling mo hindi umaandar yung mga katabi mo and at the same time matipid parin kahit malakas yung acceleration mo kasi pwede mo parin maexperience yung sobrang hatak kahit na hanggang 2K rpm k lang.
One more thing, the dual clutch transmission upshift so smoothly that you doesn't feel much when its shifting, all you will notice is that your rpm is just dropping everytime it upshifts.

Hey guys, how about joining FCP? During our last EB, more than 110 members showed up. It was really fun!
BTT: To check if the TDCI is worth it, calculate how long it would take you to recover the price difference between the TDCI and the model you are aiming for.
First, calculate how many kilometers you travel per month.
Second, calculate your fuel consumption using a TDCI. Economy driving, the TDCI goes 24 kms/liter. Normal driving is 21 kms./liter. And if you really trash it, it still goes 17 kms/liter.
This, calculate your fuel consumption using the car you want. The 2.0 liter will normally go 8 kms/liter on city, 10 kms/liter on long trips. The 1.8 will go around 9 kms/liter on city, and 11 kms/liter on long trips. (The Focus is heavier than morst cars in its class because they use a lot of insulation and the panels are generally thicker. That is why it has the doors have that European "thud' when you close them).
Third, calculate the monthly difference in fuel by subtracting the TDCI's fuel consumption from that of the car you want.
Finally, calculate the recovery period by dividing the price difference between the two cars with the monthly savings in fuel.
You will be surprised. Depending on how much you travel, you can actually recover the price difference between 6 to 12 months. From there on, it is pure savings. And to top it, you have a vehicle that can easily hit 240 kph when you need it.

i just happened to test drive the 2.0L dual clutch focus.
:jawdrop:
grabe lakas ng torque. parang papalitan na namin 1.8 altis namin with this focus.
grabe ganda. pero masikip.
that may be, but we all got plastic, young and old. we asked the lto guy, "papel ba po, o...
