They came with either a 3L or 4L V6 and later added the 5L V8. It was also the gen that was involved in the controversy regarding rollovers with the Firestone tires. It was also the last generation that the explorer was made with a solid axle rear suspension before Ford decided to make it a independent suspension. For use in off roading I have seen some with lifts and bigger tires and can be very capable if built correctly.

Im using 98 model powered by 4ltr SOHC for 10months now. So far very nice truck reliable I can drive it 6hrs straight for 650kms without any problem. Just be ready for gas consumption hehehehe..

At that price, they're a relative bargain. Madami din online parts stores if you have trouble sourcing locally. Even surplus parts can be bought online. And yes, they can be built for off-roading.

You'll also need wider tires because the extra wide Japanese-spec fender flares make it look dorky. You can also go with an all-red taillamp cluster instead of the Japanese spec Red-amber combo.

Just like most ex-JDMs, the radio won't also get all the local stations.

Kim Ok lang pala presyo dyan halos parehas din dito sa Dubai.. mababa talaga resale value ng FORD dito.. pero sobrang mahal ng Parts.. Converted ba yan or orig LHD???
