June 14th, 2007 06:53 PM #132i'm planning to get a 4x2 everest soon. i've been reading some good things about it in this forum. but before i take the plunge and order a unit i have a few questions.
1) is there anything not good about this vehicle?
2) to those who have the 4x2 version, any problems so far?
any help would be appreciated. would like to know your opinions before i take the plunge.
thanks.

Bossing Native Kim, kakadeliver lang po ng 4x2 manual everest ko, so the fun starts na! Although, hindi na ko nag test drive, I merely relied on what I read on this forum, so far, so good.
2) Turning radius, a little wider compared to the fortuner, pero acceptable din sa kin kasi yung Estrada nga namin, grabe, mas wide pa.
5) The spare tire location, siempre, nasa likod, so ingats dapat kasi baka me maatrasan ka,
CRDi type pa sya, so good power at low RPMs.
2) Sya rin ata pinakamaluwag sa loob compared to the Alterra at Fortuner.
3) Easily removable pa yung 3rd row seat, so puede kargahan ng mga goods.
4) At just 1.2M average price, sa tingin ko, best value for your money.
5) Solve na solve ako sa manual, kasi A/T yung starex ko, at yung dating CRV ko, A/T rin. You get full control of the RPMs, power, torque, etc. Love ko rin pag kakaset up ng gear ratio nya, kasi, yung Pajero at Estrada namin, naka set up na very high torque at low acceleration sa 1st gear. Satisfied ako sa acceleration nito on the 1st gear.

June 15th, 2007 05:48 AM #134Same observations here with vctradingcubao, pinaka main issue para sa akin yung turning radius niya. Yung ride nang everest ko medyo lumambot after 3 trips ko na loaded sa likod (tanggal ko na 3rd seat ko dahil palagi ako me karga everytime i go to the city and this is my main purpose why i bought my everest). I used to drive a 2003 XUV A/T hindi naman magkalayo FC nila at considering the power difference between the the two, I should say hindi ka talaga lugi sa everest. Tama lang talaga presyo ng everest. I should say underprice siya or overprice yung ibang katapat niya sa category! IMO lamang po!

Newbie here.
Many thanks first of all to Tsikot for the acceptance to this forum and, all very informative + & - issue contributors on the new Eve.
Just got my 4x2 AT SilverSurfer last 19th this month from EDSA after a month long serious selection between the Everest and Outlander.
My first to own a diesel type and an auto tranny actually that had replaced my 3.5 year old 2nd gen 4x2 CRV.

July 23rd, 2007 08:34 AM #140advised me to put off O/D if on city driving
guys may tanong pa ako re: OVERDRIVE.
paano ba ang naka ON na OVERDRIVE?
Overdrive is just another fancy way of saying fifth gear on an Everest. With overdrive OFF, the vehicle will just shift up to 4th gear. Top gear is intended to lower rpms when cruising, hence, operating more economically. Overdrive is not a wonderful magical device that will alter shift algorithms and the decision making process of the tranmsission ECU. All that the OD button does is make 5th gear available or not. That's it. I'm still wondering why they call it overdrive when it's pretty obvious that the term is not something that is easily understood by us regular consumers. The term overdrive is an engineering/design term which connotes a gear whose ratio is less than 1.000.
As I've said, turn OD off only in the exceptional cases stated in your owner's manual. For day to day driving LEAVE IT ON (no amber warning).
