I wouldn't take the "impressive knee-room" as it is. I mean, who the hell stands up that straight at the back?

As it shares a Mazda3 chassis, more or less na-visualize ko na knee-room niyan sa likod

Want spaciousness? Stick with longer and bigger vehicles.

When i did my research and found out abt the tranny problems was what clinched it for me. I still love the focus but it just wasnt for me. Kanya kanyang preference yan. If i were single, i would've gotten it with the manual tranny. Kaso i have a family na and si misis wants automatic so i had to look elsewhere.
Smooth for the first 20-30 mins of driving. Test -driving it might actually make you like it. Drive it for at least 45 mins, then you'll hate it.

If it were just me riding then I would've picked the focus hands down. :-)

I am still loving my 3 month old 1.6 Trend Focus, superb talaga ang handling niya! FC is 8 liters per 100km, daily route is from Nuvali in Sta Rosa to Madrigal Business Park in Alabang.

Test drive mo muna sa stop and go traffic if you will feel the undecisiveness of the transmission.

Hi sir. thanks for the feedback. How about you, nafeel mo ba yung reported problem about transmission? Yes, i'm waiting for the test drive unit. Sana this week. Mas ok rin siguro para mafeel ko rin yung space. Nung pinuntahan kase namin before, muka syang masikip, pero nung umupo kami sa likod at sa harap, ok naman sya for me. The only thing holding me back is the transmission problem, lalo na sa tulad kong newbie pa lang sa pagdadrive.

*Ysabel17, We have feedback from a very satisfied owner, and one dissatisfied owner.
I guess the best thing is for you to wait for the test unit, the important thing here is what you think, if it fits your driving style since you will be the one driving it.

No other car in the whole world has as many dissatisfied owners as this car.

I think you should let the buyer decide by letting him/her test drive the car and get a feel for it.

If u really want the focus, I guess best option is to get the M/T and use the savings on upgrades.

we will test drive trend on sat. hopefully, the SA wont be too pushy. i already informed him that i am a bit disappointed with the reviews on transmission.

if i am to switch to manual, i dont know if i can handle it that good, this is my first car, everyone recommends matic for me. also, manual is a bit overpriced for me, i can get a matic lancer 1.6 full feature with that amount, or a city. salamat sir arghh sa suggestion, but i'll consider pa rin. tignan ki kung manalo pa rin ang love ko sa focus. lol

i dont mind the price increase for trend variant, as long as it performs well. kakapressure naman.lol

Speaking of manuals, you might also want to check out the 1.5 Fiesta MT (P748K), its engine is only slightly weaker than the Focus 1.6's, but it's much lighter, it actually accelerates quicker.

Totoo naman na hindi pinaka-smooth ang transmission ng Focus pero napaka-exaggerated naman nung "shakes like a jeepney". Before I bought mine, I test drove it sa Daang Hari (speed is up to 80kph) then Alabang Zapote Road (heavy traffic) and sure na sure ako sa sarili ko na hindi ko na-feel yung sinasabi ng iba na "shakes like a jeepney".

If papiliin ako ng car na gagamitin between sa mga sasakyan namin sa garehe like Focus, Innova, Everest and Sorento, my number 1 choice would still be the Focus.

Test drive mo muna. If you will REALLY REALLY pay attention sa pag change ng gears ng Focus, dun mo lang mapapansin yung pagkalito ng transmission sa stop and go traffic. Trust me, it does not "shake like a jeepney".

You must have been riding a topnotch jeepney. The SA in the casa today just admitted they get a lot of complaints about the shaking. Their term is "dragging" and "Jerking". Whatever the right term is, it's not smooth. Why would someone choose a not so smooth one? Well, I did, stupid me.

I'm sure a lot will still find it a fun drive. It lunges: that's fun. It shakes, rattles and rolls: That's fun. It's so unpredictable: fun nga naman.

But yeah, it does feel solid. handles corners very well. Then comes the shaking again and again.

Di mo nga talaga mararamdaman yun. Try purely busy street. Give it about an hour. Try an incline. Try reverse.

And by the way, the claim that it is more fuel efficient than the torque converter automatics" is definitely not only an exaggeration but an outright lie. If you compare the MK3 with any traditional matic, pareho lang. The MK3 is probably even less efficient in city driving.

May we know what's the fuel efficiency of your focus?

14.9L/100Km. That's 6.7km/L based on the the meter. Based on my own computation from one gas-fill to another (up to the brim), average is 6/km/L. Usual routes are main thoroughfares of manila, makati and pasig.

I'm not proud of my heavy foot. To compare it with my previous rides, 8-9 km/L on a 2006 1.6 sedan. 7-8 km/L on a 2004 1.6 sedan. 7-8 on a 2008 diesel 4x2 diesel SUV. Same routes.

The mk3 body is just too heavy for a 1.6 engine. I think it's the same reason why it's probably more efficient on highways.

sir eric tanda mo pa po ba lahat ng upgrade mo. may nakita ko thread sa focusfanatic not sure lang kung applicable po. parang update sa software and eto feedback nung isang owner.

"So it definitely seems improved. No real shudder at low gears. Almost no hesitation. It's still not *perfect* but it's much more drivable in my eyes. Making left turns across busy traffic is not as terrifying as before, and I noticed that when I come to a stop then go to take off soon after the shudder (as if the gears didn't reset) is gone."

The casa told me they do the latest update. That was last month. They did it daw. Natanggal yung roll-back. Nabawasan ang jerking but only in terms of frequency.

Yesterday, I actually showed them a print-out of this 13-04-05 TSB. IDi ko alam kung ginawa nga nila. No imrovement since last update. for observation pa rin. Balik na naman siguro ako bukas. At the end of the TSB, it has an option that says: " replace the clutch, inner input shaft seal and outer input shaft case seal". My last resort

*ericc, may na-observe din po bang hesitation yung focus niyo? Improved after TSB, or nagpalit na ng clutch?
