It's because people buy more automatics. Between the certainty of having a fatigued left leg in traffic and the low chance of encountering DCT issues, people still go for the latter.

In fact, I haven't seen any widespread problems with the Ecosport DCT except that people don't know how to use a DCT. It's not the car's problem, it's the drivers who can't adapt.

Baka maging 2 minutes pa hahaha

And those SUVs are at least 30% more expensive....

The EcoSport variant without the spare tire at the back was meant for the European market (which is made in India instead of Thailand), this version has a tire repair kit. The version with the external spare tire is still offered in Europe as an option.

The upcoming 2018my(?) EcoSport facelift will still have a version with a spare tire as seen in these spy photos.

It will sell well in the Philippines.

Cant forecast yet its sales in the US but its a waiting game undoubtedly.

With low fuel costs and prospects of better jobs.. bigger vehicles makes sense.

Alan Mulally (previous Ford President & CEO) said that new models like the current gen EcoSport could be easily modified for the US market when they decide to offer it there. I guess it makes sense that they implemented the upgrades on the facelifted model.

There's a chance the non-US and non-EU models may have a spare tire as standard.
Spy photo of a 2018 EcoSport with an external spare tire.

I guess Ford will need to do a marketing study to find out if the ASEAN market is ready for a "tire mobility kit" in place of an actual spare tire.

OT: AG4/AM, are you connected with Ford? I noticed that you only pop up when the news is about Ford. Just curious what your affiliation with the brand is. [emoji4]

Not connected with Ford, I drive one and I'm a forum member in FCP.
*People who work at Ford or any car company in general don't discuss future models... they are focused on selling current models.

I see. I used to own a Ford but I still posted about other car brands, so I just found your affinity to the brand intriguing.

Anyway, carry on and thanks for the frequent brand updates. [emoji1303]

    Additional photo:
Here's the sporty US-spec "SES" trim. Less chrome, more gloss black/dark gray trim.

Meron po bang fog lights ang ambiente model? Aside po sa 15 size na rims and wheel at roof rack attachment... ano po ba difference ng ambiente sa trend model?
