Underpowered vehicles are efficient for city driving, highway driving they tend to consume more or the same with higher displacement engines.

Yeah, hard to please consumers, they want powerful engines that consume less fuel.

Still waiting for the diesel variant if ever they decide to bring it here. Its such a good b-segment crossover.

I agree. Di naman sya underpowered kasi magaan naman body nya. But compared to fiesta syempre mas mabigat ang ecosport. So mas matipid sa fuel ang fiesta kesa sa ecosport. Pero mas matipid naman sa fuel ang ecosport compared to ford escape, mitsubishi asx and subaru xv. Nasa 2.0L engines or more na kasi sila eh.

I think when we comment its underpowered it is relative.

Its certainly uneerpowered compared to say a Fiesta or a Jazz... Sana man lang the old 1.6 sa Fiesta would do...

Baguio or Timberland sa Montalban magandang test if the power is sufficient for its body weight.

Off topic.....If our country can sell Ecosport with 2.0L engine, would you buy it fo 1.2M or up? Cause for me I won't and would rather buy a full sized SUV. My point is, this car is built with great looks and features with an average size engine to meet the price that average people can afford in counties like PH (our country). And I dont think this car is under powered to haul with passengers UNLESS you're driving it to race! I read someone here said, if you're racing then go for the nissan gtr!

I was one of the first who booked the ecosport... If only the Titanium variant was available when they said it would arrive by end of March, I would be driving one of these. But was too excited for our first brand new car, so I bought the focus mk3 instead.

    Goodluck!

Apparently people are looking for a sub-1M, spacious, fast, economical, cheap-to-run, flood-fording SUV.

I think most cars can meet up to 4 of those criteria, but anyone looking for something that satisfies all 6 is delusional.

^^^ Toyota Innova fits 5 of those criteria except for fast but you can always chip it.

Which is why the Innova is the best selling car in the country (next to the cheaper Vios).

But then again, buying an Innova is as exciting as buying a microwave or ref.

Fast na rin kahit yung D4D. Kayang kaya naman 160kph, mabilis na yun. hehe. Delikado na kaya above 100kph.

I do believe that ecosport has more than enough satisfied the basic criteria for a sub 1M vehicle (beauty, practical, power????) The only thing annoying as what fiber optic posted article said is the annoying transmission. Which i hope is just annoying and not a defect.

reached 1000 KMs. in 10 days mostly highway driving tarlac to quezon ave, greenhills, moa. and experienced stop and go traffic,, di naman sya jerky, baka tlaga driver factor talaga meron kase syang 2-3 sec delay after braking, tested it many times parang yung hill ascent/descent assist, pati sa stand still na flat surface gumagana padin, tendency kaya jerky they would step the gas pedal from a stop and go traffic dba, so far ok naman driving nya after 1000km then try mo sya hatawin 2500-3000k rpm dun ung hatak nya, remember it is a 1.5 displacement car and AT sya,, coming from a civic EK, montero and alterra, mejo nag adjust lang ako nung una, kala ko nga din underpowered,, pero akyat ako next week manaoag and baguio and i'll keep you posted guys! cheers!!

Got also our ecosport last saturday and drove it from manila to bicol yesterday, so far i agree with *silverworx's observation regarding acceleration na ma eenjoy mo sya at open roads.

I was also wondering since nasa break-in period pa, hindi kaya sakal pa, or naka program pa na hindi pwede sa abrupt rpm change,

Sa first gear parang til 2k rpm, lang then the higher the gear the higher the rpm allowed, maybe its just me but thats my observation.

But was able to drive it at 120kph though

Smooth ang acceleration but it will get to speed, ngayon pahinga muna sya
