For my 3 days of use of Ecosport A/T I haven't experienced the sudden shifts and the like. What I experience is the delay in power. I don't know if it's something to do with the throttle or with the engine itself. Maybe it's underpower. But I checked the power-to-ratio at 92bhp per ton with a curb weight of 1,268kg, I feel there's no problem with it. So I suspect the problem is the transmission. Can M/T owners give feedbacks on this? Thanks

^ I think you have two choices, reset it back to zero or no one else drives your car. 😄

Thanks but having this car for only one member of the family is not an option. With number-coding and everything, just planning who gets what car is a major discussion for us every day.

Grrrr... I wish I had known all of these before I bought the car.

This is the current issue of the AT although software upgrades were installed to resolve this. Reason why MT is still the better choice for Ford. CVTs are much better today. The cvt that Honda first used had problems that's why they returned to the conventional AT. Its like the technology was still fresh & early to be released. With Ford, they are constantly improving the technology though the transmission should be included on the warranty if ever it needs to be brought down.

the only issue i have heard of the avanza, is its fuel in-efficiency, at least for the 1.5 AT.. officemate claims to struggle to do 7 km/li in the city.

Well i guess fuel efficiency is another issue but not a factory defect unlike the powershift dct which seems like a headache when one encounters it.

Avanza 1.5 AT is my next option. Probably a better driving habit can improve gas mileage.

Not yet, they're still working in perfecting the Powershift technology. I would stay away on any of their Powershift variant until there's an official confirmation from a trusted auto review magazine saying Ford has perfected the technology.

I read here in Tsikot in the Avanza Forums before they redesigned the Avanza, that it has NO SIDE IMPACT BEAMS... so the separation between you and the other cars are a thin sheet of metal... I don't know if this is true with today's model though.

Reading from ford club forums philipplines, it seems the sound is normal being a different technology from the conventional AT.

I think the Avanza has side impact beams sandwiched somewhere in those skinny doors. :P
Like the Wigo, the Avanza (Daihatsu Xenia) is an "affordable" product by PT Astra Daihatsu Motor Indonesia. I've ridden in an Avanza taxi and the first thing I noticed were the light flimsy feeling doors, so-so NVH, and of course the body roll of the vehicle.
I checked out the higher trim Avanza and it really feels like a cheaper vehicle than the EcoSport, I wasn't surprised really since the Avanza is marketed as a small AUV.

The EcoSport was developed to different standards since it was going to be marketed in countries with stricter safety standards (its a near-global vehicle). Although Ford in Brazil headed the development of the EcoSport (B-segment crossovers SUVs are very popular in Brazil), they had input from other branches of Ford.

Parang mali, hindi po ba DCT ang gamit ng powershift ng ford, not CVT?

Yup! DCT (dual clutch transmission) vs. CVT (continuous variable transmission)

DCT is supposedly a response to what Porsches have, the PDK or Porsche Doppelkupplung (double clutch). But Ford still has a long way to go near with Porsche's technology. At least, you can say Ford's DCT is similar to that of Porsches. In writing lang. Hehehe

DCT is Ford. Was comparing what happened to Honda when they used the CVT on the City which had issues reason why they reverted to the traditional ATs. This might happen to Ford but they're sticking to it & improving.

AFAIK mag shudder, jerk and clanky noise ng DCT happens on scenario like on traffic from stop 1st gear mag roll ka going to second gear but before magkapagshift si DCT to second gear nag stop ka ulit, dun nababaliw si DCT, nalilito siya hehe, thou tingen ko dapat driver ang mag adjust para hindi maulol yung DCT ... based on my own experience lang...
