Condolence to the bereaved families..see below link to get some ideas how each brand is ending up in terms of safety more than anything a car's worth..it could save more lives..

Unfortunately, most of those cars aren't sold here... and those that are have different variants. The US Escape is different from the local Escape (but the local is an older model, so that's not all good news) and the US Ranger is completely different. The Chevrolet Spark (not yet on that list) was extensively re-engineered for the US market, and I'm not aware of the specific changes needed for the small Koreans to meet US market requirements.
Closer to local model variants are those sold in Europe and Australia... which is why I find EuroNCAP and Australian NCAP much more useful for assessing local model safety.

When purchasing tyres, consider also the load and speed indeces.....

our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
yes it is necessary to check the speed rating, load rating, traction rating, temperature and treadwear rating for tires you intend to install on your vehicle. low profile tires have less load rating compared to stock sizes. modifying for looks is dangerous if you don't follow minimum requirements for the vehicle. suv's and light duty pickup trucks should be using tires that are rated for light trucks (LT rating). most cases, the low profile tires are not LT compliant. considering that the suv or light truck are designed for some load or adverse road conditions or heavier gross vehicle weight rating, it has to have at least 20% more load factor than the sticker gross vehicle weight.
I see some fully loaded vans running on passenger car tires. Scary. Not too much choices on Light Truck or van tires when people feel the itch to upgrade and go bling. That's why with our van i just searched for a wider LT tire of the same spec to improve the stance and stability on the highway.
The pressure you are using is fine and within spec. Better to run with a little more air than usual (less risk for blowouts as compared to underinflated tires as aforementioned).
my condolonces to the family and relative of those involved in the accident.
that incident scared me. for the experts and experienced members here, what is the ideal tire pressure for a SUV like fortuner or montero? it says on the side of the driver's door 29 front 32 back if less than 5 pax. if more, 32 front 36 back. should i follow it? right now, regardless of the number of passengers, my tire pressure is 32 front 35 back. is that ok? can i reduce it to 30 front and 33 back?
Or not. The Ford Explorer-Firestone scandal was caused by the manufacturer door sticker being too low (at 28 psi). Modern recommendations from the NHTSA are to inflate to at least 30 psi.
