Is Ford answerable to this? Saw it on the news last night and the Expedition is a total wreck. Also read the accident of the Elantra at Alabang which killed 4 people. But it's the driver's fault in the Elantra case.

    I don't think so.

The accident is possibly cause by very old tires (notice the plate number, its around ten years old). People rarely use their Ford Expeditions, hence their tires will expire first before it wears out. Expired tires will crack and may explode/burst even in normal use conditions.

4 survivors, puro Quilang ang surname...What is the expiration date of a tire? Would visual inspection for cracks be enough? My 2005 ride is still running on it's original tires.

I bet the Expedition was going fast... faster than what the old tires can handle.

People often forget that the tires has their own limits. Chances are, some speed junkies do not even know what tire ratings suggest or imply.. or worse.. they don't know that such exist.
