As regards maintenance cost of the Ranger Raptor, note that the PMS is scheduled every 10,000 km or 12 months - not as often as other brands (5,000 km or 6 months). On a per annum basis, the PMS cost of the Ranger Raptor is very competitive with other locally available pickups. My Ranger Raptor has not yet undergone any repairs or replacement of worn out parts (brake pads, belts, etc.) other than PMS, so I'm not familiar as of now with how costly these things are. I expect tire replacement to be relatively costlier simply because of the bigger tire size.
Curiously, the comprehensive insurance rate (with acts of nature) of my one-year old Ranger Raptor is actually cheaper than that of my one year old Civic RS Turbo. The best insurance rate I got for the former is 2% of the insured sum, while the latter is 3%. When I asked my insurance agent why this is so, she said that based on risk statistics, the Civic RS Turbo is more likely to be involved in an accident, and prone to have heavier damage, than the larger Ranger Raptor. She explained that this is similar to life insurance rates assessed on two persons - one is young and leads a healthy lifestyle, while the other is older and a smoker, their insurance rates are not the same because of the dissimilar risks involved.
